Spektrum Pro with original spektrum receiver

like the title says... i just picked up a spektrum pro setup for my radio. i want to use my older original style (solid grey) receiver in my buggy, will it work with the newer pro tx module?

Yes, but you get only half the speed benefits of the pro module.
