I've always said that Brushed will die out the day that Tamiya start putting a brushless system in their basic kits... with the release of these new budget combos from Novak and LRP/Nosram I think that day is getting closer and closer!

Default 2S maximum

2S maximum. That is too bad. Wish Novak would at least have gone for 3S. At 3S voltages, the efficiency is greatly improved...less current is required. Wonder if it is a BEC issue?

I would say it is a racing issue. This ESC is designed for racers, I see no future in anything other than 7.4V in racing, so why increase the cost of the product to accomodate battery packs the target market is unlikely to ever use.

Hmmm....put on these new XBR 13.5 systems on backorder. It will go nice in my 2WD buggy with Orion Li-po.

Because the future is LIPO and Lipo supports different voltages than 7.4.

looks like a nice cheap option for 13.5 / 10.5 racers. i was thinking lrp speedo / novak 10.5, but if this is cheaper than the lrp i may go that route.

Not being familiar with BL ESCs .. how does this stack up to the GTB?
Obviously the GTB is the top-of-the-line ESC but what will be the main limitations of the XBR when compared to the GTB?

(curious to know up front to make an informed decision on whether to get an entry level ESC or go the whole caboodle and get the top of the line one.)

Obvious limitation is motor handling, the XBR will only go down to an 8.5. Apart from that the specs actually seem more developed than the GTB, things like the LiPo cutoff and auto detect brush mode are new.

I would guess that Novak will follow this up with a new GTB that takes these specs to the next level and can handle the fast motors too.

Has anyone noticed all the complaining about high cost?
Novak has taken high quality to a lower cost.
Novak obviously hears us! I've seen a lot of commitment from Novak since the brushless lipo boom.
With sintered rotors in all there motors and up graded end bells.
They just keep getting better.

Now if they would just start selling foam tires.
Someone call Parma.

Novak is definitely helping the hobby.
