I raced both an MSX and an Evo 5 last season on a fairly tight concrete track in Stock and found that the Evo 5 produced ultimately quicker lap times.
The Msx was a little quicker down the straights but the Evo 5 accelerated better in the tight turns. The Evo 5 also had more steering, probably due to the slightly shorter arms and better steering system.

i currently run both the Evo 5 ad the MSXX. i have found the the Evo5 a better performer in 540(Silver can) and Stock(27T) due to the very efficient and free drivetrain. the shaft drive feels very punchy coming out of corners and accelerates very well. i use the MSXX in Mod with a 3.5R brushless setup, and found the smoothnees of the belt drive better suited for the hot motor setup.
so i would say if you plan on running Modified, go for the 415MSXX. if you plan on running 19T,23T,27T or silver can go with the Evo 5.
both chassis are beautiful race machines and share quite a few parts as well. you can't go wrong with whichever one you choose.
hope that helps

have you stripped many bevel gears in your evo 5?
#9
no i haven't stripped many bevel gears. the only time you will have that issue is if you hit a board or drive into the back of another car at full throttle. the bevel gears don't strip unles you have some heavy frontal impact. so if you keep the driving clean you will be fine.

that is true, if youa re new to RC racing, it is part of the learning curve. straight line speed between different cars is easy to match. the drivetrain efficiency will affect how easy it is to keep a stock motor on the boil, which is what you want.
either with belt or shaft, if you are new to racing and find the boards stepping out in front of you all the time you are going to break things. steering khuckle, C Hubs, bevel gears, swing shafts, the list goes on and on. both cars are equally durable. frontal impact dmage is not exclusive to shaft cars. any car will sustain damage from impact, maybe a different part will giy way under the strain though....
