Default Front Diff Questions????

How loose should the front diff be? It doesn't seem as smooth as the rear.

I am using a stock diff. When I turn a front wheel by hand the belt turns and all of the wheels spin in the same direction. Based on my limited experience with 1/10 cars I would have expected just the opposite front wheel to spin in the opposite direction.

Is there any way to adjust the tension on the front diff? Is it time for a rebuild and make sure I didn't leave any extra plastic on the gears? Upgrade to a ball diff?

Thanks in advance

Only in kit form? My friend got the CLK DTM from tower hobbies for about $16. But you are correct in saying that they are VERY hard to come by I'll just bug My lhs when my skyline becomes even more destroyed .

dpep- yes, the front diff pretty much sucks, but you can make it slightly better, and yourmicro.com gives good tips to make the front diff better. but for only 20 bucks you can get a ball diff, but it is sooooo incredibly gritty that you should try to find a way to open it and smooth the washers.

I stripped the plastic front diff quite fast and recommend the GH front ball diff, but you need to do some minor surgery. However, I personally run two wheel drive and think it is the best! so long as you have the rear ball diff. It takes time to get used to, but it has made me soooo much faster for my 1/10 nitro touring car racing. I was beating MTX2's and inmpulses and tc3's and voner's with a nitro rs4!

Those are the options.

i just realized that a faster motor equals more wear and tear on the parts. what usually needs maintennance/replacement when using a 300 or big block? do i need metal pinions? also, do i need ball diffs instead of the stock gear diffs? do i need to modify/strengthen the chassis/suspension/etc.?

Been my concern too, but I'm using the TO Elite Mod, with HPI 6v option pack.....what do you think?
(No other mods to speak of...)

Drive train and the steering knuckles are the only places where you'll find new problems when your going faster. Maybe the body too, but its made of tick lexan, so unless you keep your micro bodies as long as I do, then that is not a problem. Nothing is needed for the chassis, unless someting freakish happens (full-size car, raining lemons from the next door neighbor )

That is very interesting!

I see you're running two wheel drive as well. Just not the rear ones. Then again, I could be wrong (as I so often am) .

Is that a front-wheel drive burnout I see?

its really nice what microsoft paint and photo editor can do

the car is off, and standing still. a little spray can white around the tires and smudged and voila... front wheel burnout!

I just figured it'd be appropriate for the car cuz of what it is.

That guy on the message board was talking about the cost of UPS to Hawaii . I don't get much hobby stuff by mail, but I've seen shipping to us can be like $26 for small stuff.
