Cole Trickle

After recommendation from the fastest guy at the track, I'm going to try the Schumacher Carpet Dragon tire. I've mounted them with Sorex Type A, firm inserts. I've also belted them.

I havent tried them yet, but I noticed they are 5 grams heavier compared to the Schumacher Withe I use to run. More rotating mass.... They are also larger, 1-2 mm more diameter. Bad, because now I cant switch between my other tires, without re-do my setup (gearing, ride hight, camber and front toe).

So far I'm dissapointed. But hopefully the track test on sunday will be a good surprise.

They are indeed a bit bigger & heavier than the white slicks, because they are made using belted mold (without the belt though). The compound is the same, grip is a tad better on carpet due to the pattern.
I wouldn't change the setup when changing tires. This leaves you with 0,5-1mm higher ground clearance, but your suspension geometry stays the same and the effect on handling will be minimal (assuming you don't start traction rolling). If you try to keep the ground clearance same, you will be changing _everything_ and might screw up the setup totally. This is something most top level nitro racers can tell you (foams have constantly changing diameter, so they are used to this). Maybe the only thing you could adjust is the gearing, but you also have to consider that the rolling distance (circumference) of the tire is not necessarily Pi*outer diameter. For belted tires, it may well be closer to Pi*belt diameter (in reality, it's somewhere inbetween).

Cole, I'd think you are right, but I've only ever run them on one carpet, so I wouldn't know for sure I just tried them out of curiosity as they came with the car, never raced them (not legal here).

Around here, they seems to be more and more pupolar. One thing I like about them, is that they are easier to belt, than Schumacher White.

I'm interested in seeing the difference due to the increased rotating mass.

Multiply the pounds with approx 1,5, then you're close to USD.

Yep, the price is fair. They also last pretty good. And they perform reasonably (not optimal), when the thread are gone. Good for budget guys like me. Some of the fastest guys at our club, have used them on 4-5 different types of carpet with good results.

Yesterday, I tried them in a race.

The car handle well and had good grip. My race went better out, than my previous race, so I have no complaints about handling.

However, I felt the car didnt had as much punch as usual. Unfortunately, it's alittle hard to judge what's the reason, since it was on a track I havent tried before. Compared to the other cars, my car had good punch.

So is it just a feeling or is it for real due to the fact the the Dragons are a little heavier than the tires I use to run? Hmmm. Seems like I have to do some testing on my next practise day....
