Asphalt Touring Car Racing with Foam Tires: Set-up tips and Info
We have stopped running rubber tires for asphalt on-road Touring car racing. We now have been running foams for the past year, and its been so much funner and cheaper. Its a class/set-up thats beeing run in China, Japan, Australia, and Europe, and big races are allowing them more and more, the most recent being the New Zealand On Road Electric Nationals, when rubber and foams were raced on asphalt: http://teamxray.com/teamxray/news/ne...ic%20Nationals
Well lets hear your experience with asphalt and foam tire racing, and lets share set-ups and tips/knowledge so those who are new can get better informed and those with some experience can share their findings and teach us more about this awesome set-up! |

In New Zealand we saw the light many years ago and have pretty much been running open tires since touring cars first started. I can only think of one meeting where foam tires do not work and you have to run rubber. |

Thanks Mr. Black- what car are you running and what class, and what set up are you running?

Rub a liberal amount into the tire until it has soaked in wipe off any extra with a towel and do a burn out or two when you first put your car down to make sure any extra lotion gets off the tires and then it should be really nice. We used to run these at Tamiya for ungodly grip but the maintenance of foam tires at the time moved everyone to rubber but in hindsight maybe we should have stayed with foams. |
Don't mean to necro and old thread, but how is the foam tire scene doing these days in electric TC ?
