Bonded magnets in a brushless motor connected to an ESC that doesn't allow the motors to go into thermal shutdown will end in tears. Do the new ESCs have thermal shutdown?

No the magnets are bonded. You can see this in the spec table above. Sintered is different.

This is excellent news (minus the fact that LRP's actual product releases trail product announcements by 1 - 2 years).

We're already seeing brushless begin to revive a number of classes (12th scale, 10th scale [on road and off road], etc.), and the key to that was the release of Novak's 13.5 brushless motor. With a couple other "sport"-class brushless motors, people should further recognize that this is going to become a staple in club racing. Aggressive pricing certainly won't hurt, either .

I think it's interesting that they are listing their 13.5 as a direct correlation to a 23T instead of 27T. I know several discussions have been going on regarding just that recently but it was the Novak 13.5 with the Sintered Rotor.

I was thinking the same thing. There need to be standards put into place quickly so that the brushless market doesnt get killed by all the alternatices. If tracks begin to allow anything with a 13.5 sticker on it in their stock classes then things will get out of control quickly. Alternatively people should be able to have a choice in the motors they buy. There are always going to be faster/better products but the differences between that and alternatives shouldnt be laps faster...

SHOCK HORROR!

As the world realises that brushless will actually be just like brushed...

Different motors and speed controllers will always behave differently. Manufacturers would be crazy to release a motor that was slower than a rivals.

I think ROAR have already specified some dimensions anyway, sounds like enough to me. 13.5 isn't an arbitrary rating, it is the actual wind.

IN NEXT WEEKS EDITION OF... SHOCK HORROR!

The world realises that LiPo will be just the same as NiMH...

OOOOO...and after that the world realises that even though some of the same issues remain...brushless motors still require little to no maintenance and LiPo batteries still don't drop off at the end of a race and can run all day without cycling and equalizing and all that crud..plus they can be charged the night before. Less to maintain...more consistent performance...must be a bad thing.

No, I don't have any issue with people who use brushless or Lipo.

I'm just pointing out that the people who think that brushless and Lipo mean they will "never need to buy a new motor to be fast" or "not have to worry that a sponsored driver will have better cells" are sorely mistaken.
