I have had a few issues getting the right sweet spot for my Orion V2 motor's. I contacted Joe Pillars at orion and he was so helpful. I asked him can he help me to find a good FDR for my range of orion's, this was his reply.
Hi Adam,
As far as FDR's go, it depends allot on the size of the track you are racing on. I can give you a good starting point for 7 and 8 turns. As far as 9-12, Im not too sure since we dont ever run anything that high.
7x1 - 8.4 to 8.8
8x1 - 7.8 to 8.2

Now I used this formula and what a difference.
I was running a 8X1 V2 with a Tamiya MRE with a Rollout of 22.422
FDR was 8.827 using a 102/26 with 64 pitch, I used this on a tight fast track thinking it would be good.
I changed using Joe's Formula to a FDR of 7.914 which was on the car 102/29 with 64 pitch and what a difference it made. It was like I found the sweet spot for the 8x1 motor.
I would love to find a way of getting the right formula for all my motor's
How do you guy's use to get the tthe right sweet spot for you motor's?
I know it is all about the size of the track but there has to be a FDR basic for all modified motor's to use as a guide line to set up off.
Have you guy's got any great idea's
Any input would be great.

ive got a 110 64 pitch spur on my mre and im going to be running a checkpoint 19t.the longest straight is about 60 feet.i have no pinions yet and need some advice where to start.i dont know how to work the math to find this info out could any one help

Go to Gearchart creator and type in the info.Use the Ta05 ratio because it is the same as MRE 2.25, If you are running rubbers they are 63mm

then just type in your info and find out off bender here in australia who had a lot of success with 19turn what is a good rollout for 19 turn send him a PM.
I have not run 19 turn but at least with these charts above you can use the formula.
