Sorry to sound doubtful and maybe a bit argumentitive, but this guy just seemed like those kids that exaggerate everything way out of proportion.
This has already been discussed on another thread though I can't remember which but one of the R/C mags did a 'fastest car' shootout and one guy set a new record (sort of) he made a single pass with an electric car at 134mph. A nitro car just can't do that...yet.

I did a search and that's how I came up with this thread. That's pretty cool though.
