MOTOR GUARD

anyone know of a motor guard that connects to the end bell/
kind of like some of those fans that attach to the endbell. i've been hit many times right on the armature and i know that's not a good thing. but the side of the motor is exposed and i don't think getting hit in the armature is a good thing . if there isn't anything out there i'm tempted to buy an endbell fan and take the fan out and use the shell as a guard.

Glue some foam on the inside of the body opposite the motor. Some light high density foam such as used on a bumper, or a garden kneeling pad from a hardware store. Shoe goo it to the inside of the lexan and leave a gap for cooling. I was running into the same problem with my Xray. I don't think the factory motor guard, being so low, would fully prevent the problem.
