The Jet knuckles are right inbetween the two holes on the R3 knuckles so that might make a starting point..... to go from

Default R3 convert...maybe ;)

Hi All,
seriously considering an R3 for my next car and would like to ask a couple of Q's to current owners:
do you run into problems with rocks/crap/etc running without a gear case?
is the Black Chassis Special any different?
is the kit chassis not good enough that's why most of you go for either a speedway Pal or xenon upgrade?
do gears strip easy?
and are they a fragile car and break easy?
cheers all.

R3 is bullet proof and very good

No gears stripping

xenon upgrade not compatable with R3

i don't think the black chassis is different but it really dose look alot better

Only upgrades i see as necessary are yokomo bladdered shock caps

Mid span wishbones

ectrentric ball studs for the rear wisbones

I have speedway pal hubs on my car but thats only because i NEED to be able to get wider than 24mm tyres on my car.If you only race on rubber you'd not need them i.m.o

hope that helps

The new tamiya evo4 would also be an option very similar car

Good car..
the Black Chassis kit is the same as the sparkle chassis ...just minus the shinny Cr@p .. you can`t go wrong with it..very durable... the car has many nick names..and one of them is ...the "TANK"

Hi Dave,

If I am not mistaken, you mentioned something about an R4. Do you have reason to believe that an R4 is being designed already? Any information will be appreciated.

Best regards,
Mark

No gear case for racks to get stuck in, just the teeth of the gears themselfs, which can get a couple of tiny stones in them which means it can make a mess of the gear it's meshing with but usualy it's not a big problem. Just flick out the stone and the gears are runnable, since they're more beefy than most shaft drive tourers gears.

Those with Speedway PAL or Xenon chassis are those with the R2, like me , these are great upgrades for the R2 but the R3 has most of the features already built in

Fragile?!? in a word, NO, it's one of the strongest tourers out there

Thanks for your reply guys about the R3!
I really do like the "tank" nickname...i do need it to withstand a few *cough* crashes here and there
The EVO4 was on the list as something to consider but I've already got a Tamiya and do want something different.
Dave:
I'd really hate to buy an R3 only to find out that the R4 is just around the corner...any word on when the R4 will become available?
I've also noticed on the Alex site that they have hardened arms and just normal ones. Worthwhile upgrade?
thanks all!
