Well I had a decent day's racing, after being stupid and wasting my first two runs trying to use the wrongs springs on the front, I went back to the old ones and things were much more balanced. We had 50 drivers, with most of Scotlands top drivers there so it was a good turn out, the hall couldn;t have handled many more.
I was a little worried about being put in the top heat, but the top 20 were fairly close, just a couple of guys were absolutly on it all day, one of them being a club mate, the other being one of Scotlands top drivers.
Third qualifier I was happy with my car and drive a clean 5minutes, just not as tight lined as it should be but I was in the B final with the time. Last run I drove much tighter and was on a good pace, apart from one incident with a car I was lapping which cause me to spin and loose a few seconds
(some people just don't let you lap them
) I ended up with a time that put me 2nd in the B final which was pretty good, I was about 0.85 of the guy ahead of me and he was about a second behind the 8th guy in the A final, so that spin cost me a place in the A
We ran 8 car finals to help keep things a little more crash free, but it still didn't stop the usual idiots who like to drive through cars on the first lap, one of them caused me to spin and end up nose to nose with two other cars
I got away in about 6th and with some damn good driving by me (even if I do say so myself
) I got upto 4th pretty quickly, then 3rd without too much hassle. I was having a good battle with the pole sitter who was now in 2nd, he's a club mate so we know how to drive with each other. I passed him for a few laps then he passed me back, We were very close together yet didn't touch, then I passed him and he had a couple not so good corners so dropped back a little, he then had no chance as his cells started to go off. I had closed on the leader (the guy I think spun me) since the first lap but there was no way I could catch and pass him by the end of 5mins, still have to be reasonably happy with 10th overall. Got myself a little trophy and a box of 24 Tunnocks caramel waffer biscuits
Thanks to Tunnocks for sponsoring the event
Had a nice shock with scrutineering at the start of the day, with 3000's in the car weighed in at approx 1415grams
Out with the lead weights and using 3300's and I got it closer to 1500grams, was struggling to find space on the chassis though
Maybe I should have used the speedo in this pic
Here you go Dave, show this to guys that complain about lack of electronics space on the Cuda
