Alex Racing Barracuda R2 & R3

1st Race with barracuda
yesterday i startet searching a good setup for my local track.
with the std setup, the car had low grip and bad on-power-steering.
i canged the oil to 30wt, 1,2mm piston.
rear toe in 2,0° .
added a small shim under the fron arm, for a little more caster and kickup.
i added a 2mm shim under front camber link.
but still the car was pushing out of the corners.
so i used 5,75 spring in rear and 6,25 in front, i tried a lot to finde the right ones
now the car was fast, but very hard to drive ass well.
on coner entering the heck was a little lose.
racing:
qualified first, i was very happy to see, that i was able to improve the fastest lap from 13,9 to 13,73s
but after the finals i ended up 4th, because my insert seemd to be to soft, for the asphalt, that became very hot in the afternoon, and i didnt want to glue a third set of tires, with harder inserts.
two set of tires for one racing weekend 10 runs, has to be enough
let me know what do u do to get more steering.
i think the battery placement shoud be a little more in front, this coul help onpower-steering, and even plant the rear on coner entering

Can you explain the surface you race on, and what tyre/inserts worked best ?
-For more aggressive steering you may want to try...
moving Front and rear dampers out on tower and suspension arm, to the full outside positions.
-Make sure you have at least 1/2 deg toe-out up front.
-Pay attention to the droop settings, less front droop will transfer less weight to the rear under power, hence more front bite.
-If the traction is high a stiffer rear suspension will cause more understeer on the Cuda.
Also have a look at the "Reedy Race" setup at www.alexracingusa.com
We had a lot of steering there.

Speaking of which... I now have a "truely" good Long arm set up that you all have to try out!!! I have sound the way to make this car rotate with a high bit track and mod motors!! .

i used the same suspension geometry, as on the reedy race setup, just with 0.5 deg front toe out, and 1 deg camber.
i used plenty of droop, and a front oneway.
i had to use the 0,8mm stabi in front, because the heck was lose on corner entry..
as for the stiffer rear suspension, i didnt know, that it might increase rear traction

You could also try a 1mm swaybar on the rear instead of the front.
Did you try the Diff up front yet ? could be good for the bumpy track, at the Nats this year the Spliff, Diff, or Spool worked best because of the corner entry bumps

Barracuda 1st time out
Well brothers I finally took the web special out to so.cal on Sat. I started out with the stock hubs in the rear which are I think the 4 toe and I gotta say that the traction was great but low on speed so I changed it to 3, adjusted the camber and adjusted my servoe because It was very glitchie with the speed on it. After I got it to my liking the car still was a second slower than my TC3, which I have dialed in so I adjusted the drive train then I was spinning out on my left turs which I was acually doing doughnuts on hi speed L.H. turns. I couldent figure out what to do because their werent anny cuda bros. out to help me out with it so I didnt want to rush the car so I didnt race it that night. I think Im gonna give it to my buddy Alex to rebuild it for me cause I really dont understand the car yet. Im running the center 1 way along with the 1 way 5 ride height all around along with 5 caster all around and still got some scratches on the bottom rear. I like the traction on the car but must figure out how to get fast with it. I know it has alot of potentual so looking forward to Sat. Im gonna keep this car for stock only so Im gonna need a good stock setup. Im only running rear sways because I do that with all my cars seems to get better steering. It seemed like I was losing steering as I was driving it more and more. Oh well Ill keep you guys posted as I go along.
