Actually, the shims moves the bevel gear closer to the diff gear! After I broke in my drivetrain, I added the shims to the bevel gear and also played with the shims on the diffs. My car now runs quieter than a TC3! :-)
Also, with the new shimming technique, I think Dave said not to sand down the teeth on the gears.
well I the diff itself is moved away from the small bevel gear. I don't think you can shim the small gear any other way than to move it closer to the diff
so I kinda let that speak for itself
good to hear you have a quiet cuda, I really should get a set of those smaller shims myself and get to work on my car. It's a noisey SOB right now
