Why do Factory Modified guys runs 19-turn

There have been a few good answers here, but it's pretty obvious.
Track Time has to be the number one reason. Big events are generally run on virgin tracks. No pre-knowledge of the design or what the traction will be like. Practice time is quite limited, so 5 or 6 extra shots at the track can make a big difference in getting the car and driver tuned properly.
Times have changed. We have fewer drivers in our sport, so these races are now letting drivers enter multiple classes. I don't know how many entries are turned away, but if that number is large enough, I would expect that race promoters would be willing to go back to limiting the number of classes per driver. Until then, we'll continue to see drivers running as many classes as they can afford.
Back in the day when Cleveland was 12th scale only, you could enter only one class... Stock or Mod. And every year there were 320 different drivers entered. Does anybody have info on how many DRIVERS are entered at the big races nowadays?
I'm not complaining, just stating what I see. I'd LOVE to get back to the days when we had so many drivers that we HAD to limit the entries so that most people who tried to enter could race.

Here's a solution.....
maybe the novice guy's should sign up for mod so they too can get more wheel time.
