Default Urgent set up help needed for CGM

My son's racing his CGM at the Nats this week and during practice the car has developed a bad off power looseness in the rear. He's tried different set up changes but it's not responding.

I don't have all of his set up info but he is using a spool made with sandpaper between the diff rings. The car has been fine at our local asphalt track with this arrangement.

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

What is his arm spacing? He may have too much weight in the rear of the car. Try moving the arms to the rear. Also try droop. Raise up the rear arms. And/or stand up the front shocks to the outter most holes on the tower. Anyways, kinda hard to guess without seeing his setup first....

i'll be down in the morning first thing, maybe sam can tell me how to get a spool to work without all the push, as far as the rear being loose, it might be something as simple as adding a shim or two for anti squat.

Thanks guys.
Kilruf -- sure enough he found out from a fellow club member that he didn't have droop or suspension travel for the surface. Dialed some more in and it was much better.

ritchie -- he'll be happy to help

CoolRCDad,

Droop setting is usually the simplest way to cure that.

Also check that none of the rear pivot pins are bent and the car has equal toe in on both rear wheels. Then play witrh the usual things.

One more possibility is the rear diff. Just make sure it's OK.

I find the Yoke really works well with a front spool.

Can you move the weight further forward ? That should help too.

Good luck,

Joe from sunny Malta.

NEWS:

Mr Masaaki, father of Mr Masami, has called it a day and retired from RC.

I think he also said that they have stop development of the Yok GP car.

Easton is 8th after 2 rounds of qualifying at the ROAR nats, right ahead of Tosolini It will be interesting to find out what version car he is running, I was told he prefered the SSG car over the RS and CGM in practice leading up to the nats.

Wow, he's running the SSG? No "pro" usually runs that anymore.

Thumbs down Part No SD 304M.....

what a piece of crap this kit is turning out to be now the friggin hole in the motor mount for the 5x10 bearing isn't even drilled in straight. So much for quality control improving over the years.

Are you sure your not sticking in the bearing sideways or something so its not going in smoothly? Maybe its such a precicely drilled hole that its hard to get in unless the bearing is going in straight.

Oh it goes in smoothly what I mean is that it's not inline as in when you put the shaft through it it's at an angle.
