With all due respect, please don't turn this into your personal PM service. I hope this doesn't turn into the 'Cuda thread.

Peace.

I found out that the CGM is not any stiffer than my SSG SD with graphite gearboxes. It only has no top deck, so won't hold the tweak. And to me it looks ugly, kinda TC3.

If you traction roll you should go for a harder tire just because it won't give you as much traction, it's not a matter of giving, IMHO.

I agree on the glue thing, as I used it even with rubber tires on some carpets though.

It still has flex... every car does. But it's about 50% of what the SSG's have.

With all respect, you should check out better the stiffness of the SSG, the CGM it's nowhere better than the SSG with regard to flex. If you want no flex, you want a top deck.

Only advantage of the CGM is that it should not keep the tweak.

Besides, the CGM is way heavier than the SSG. Still you won't convince me.

Not trying to convice you to switch, just saying that of all the variations of the SD I've owned (all 4 with RS) the CGM is definately the stiffest. I am contemplating building another SSG car just for lower grip tracks.

yes, I gotta agree with you,
the CGM is little bit stiffer than the SSG, but not very much.
as far as I know, most people who use the CGM in Japan is running with RaySpeed's shock tower . besides, some people went back the RaySpeed chassis already, because they mostly race on asphalt tracks.

in my opinion, the CGM , SSG ,RS they all are good chassis.
but , SSG and RS chassis are extremely
good for the asphalt tracks,besides
Masami's dad was saying same opinion.

but if the CGM chassis is good for the carpet tracs for sure.

Well, with all this discussion which is better CGM, SSG, or Black, I think it really depends on one's driving style. Randman finds the CGM to suit him better as do Cobra and his SSG. I prefer the SSG myself w/ graphite diff cases.

Just my .02.

Just wondering though, since the 4 variations are really just tuning options, have you guys tried all 4?

Well I might still have to disagree with you on foam tires for carpet. Softer tire for less traction roll. If you notice alot of people use a softer tire for Mod. You'd think with a faster car and more corner speed, the car would roll with a softer tire. But it don't. That's why they used Pinks for Mod instead of Purples. As it was explained, a Pink does not have more side bite than a Purple. It has more forward traction. A pink with a softer side wall will allow the tire to roll or give. Where a purple is stiffer and won't. Since it don't give, the car has no other option than to lift and possibly roll over. Again, this is coming from one of the top pros at the Snowbirds.

The CGM car is stiffer than a SSG car. I had a custom 3mm chassis and upper deck with no cutouts. My CGM is just as stiff. I am now testing with a standard top deck and there is no flex in the car. I could actually feel the car twist and tweek in the corners on high traction carpet with the ssg on foams. I had no problems at all at the Snowbirds with the cgm and it did not tweek once. Did anyone ever try twising a TC3 chassis with the battery slots milled in it and also a nitro steering rack?

I have been running the softer foams now at big races. The tire rolls over more in the corner and does not bite as hard. The sidewall is not as square, so it doesn't want to try to flip the car as much. Also has better foward traction off the corner.

I tried the CGM on saturday on carpet and it was very good. Felt way more consistant throughout the race compared to the ssg or black. I was wondering if anyone has any weight saving tips for the car since mine needs some serious slimfast.
