I just picked up a Yok SD-SSG and the Rayspeed ultimate conversion. I should have gotten the CGM but woulda shoulda Coulda huh...

Anyway

Does anybody have any building tips to pass down?

And does anyone know where to pick up the Team Suzuki front steering knuckles? I know Speedtech has them listed, but they have been out of stock forever...I am looking to get the fronts and rears....

Thanks!
John

Default SD Diff gears

Would a TC3 diff gear fit an SD? I am having problems with the front one way gear stripping after a few runs. How can I solve this problem?

danjoy, the TC3 gears will not fit. If you are running a 1way, you are stripping gears either because the spacing is wrong or most likely because of hitting boards. I did this a lot before I added the buds front bumper. Anytime I would rub a board with the front wheels it would chip a tooth.

eklips, here is a picture of the bumper installation. It is a buds front bumper for a TC3 with only slight modifications. It takes about 5 min to install and really saves a lot of front end parts.

Randman, so far I am liking the 2.5 gear reduction. It only effected the puch a little but the motor temp and run time were much better. In practice, I ran the same 10x1 I ran in the main at the 2 day race in Stockton, without cutting it, and it ran for 6:15 and I could hold on to the motor without burning myself.

The car was definately better than the Rayspeed chassis car I have been running. It didn't bogg down in the middle of the corners and was very consistant. It didn't tweak at all after any impacts either. I will put the setups I ran today up on my website in a little while.

Cheers.
I've been running the tobee center shaft and input shafts since the summer in mod and 19T with no problems, they're highly recommended if your looking lighten your drivetrain

Randman- have you weighed your CGM yet? I won't be able to use the track scale until next Saturday or Sunday. Also, how did you get your original SD to be so light? Mine was a little bit under the weight limit, but not a ton.

I'm honestly fairly surprized that you found any use of the gear reduction, I didn't think it would have any benefits, but if you're getting better runtime, I might have to try a pair for myself, where did you get them?

I havent weighed in the CGM, I honestly dont care about the weight of the car because none of the tracks I race at seem to have weight requirements. I dont do anything special to the cars to get them underweight, the one that was 1360 grams with the body on even had a double upper deck...

Default This car needs a diet

I had my yokomo weighed at snowbirds and it weighs almost 56 oz. w/ 3300 cells, it's really heavy and the suspension is still very weak
