If you want to plug the fan into your receiver try to get a 5 volt one. 12 volt will work plugged into the receiver but it won't spin as fast as one built to work on the lower voltage that the receiver puts out.

Matt H. is ever so correct. I have the 12 volt and the 5 volt fan. The 5 volt spins like a maniac hooked up to reciever and the 12 volt spins like a real slow Losi Go with 5 volt!!!!!!

there's three main ways to hook up a fan
1. to the receiver, 5 volt works best but 12 volt will work
2. to the battery, 5 volt will probably blow up, 12 volt will work
3. to the motor, 5 volt will probably blow up, 12 volt will work but the fan will only be on when the motor has power going to it.

Hi Guys. Greetings from Malta.

WYD. Sorry not replying before but Matt and RC Zombies have just about answered the questions you asked.

My fans are all 12 volt, wired to the Red and Black wires from the speedo. In other words the fan works all the time the cells are connected.

I built a second SD recently, so I can take both to the track with different set ups. Actually I am now leaving the original car as it is, knowing it handles and runs well, and using the new car to experiment with new ideas.

Externally both cars are identical. I ran the new car yesterday with rear shock tower up front, and with standard 4 deg caster blocks (AE green springs all round and 40 oil). It seemed to steer better mid range.

I'll be doing a bit more testing this evening and will report then.

regards

Joe from sunny Malta.

When you are looking for a cooling fan you also need to look at fan design. Some fans are designed for low noise applications and often don't move very much air, while others are designed to move as much air as possible given the fan size and input voltage. A thicker fan (...or depth, if you like) often gives a higher air flow. A larger airflow most likely demands a higher amp draw...

Also many fans are of a brushless design, electronicly commutated. This means that some 12V fans won't even start if you hook it up to a 5V source.

Just a few thoughts...

Sig,
I mount the transponder on top of the upper brace. You can bolt it down or use velcrow. Use the super velcrow though the other if you use the other cheap stuff the transponder will come off. Don't put it in the bumper I have seen lots of guys destroy their transponders by doing that.

@kt tracing: Thanks for the tip on mounting the personal transponder.

But how do you mount the non-personal transponder? The one you mount with a body clip? (Other than the hole-in-body option \(^o^)/ )

That's the reason why Yok SD SSG delayed their shipping schedule worldwide (unofficial news from exclusive distributor in Asia). This affects the early batches only... maybe until now still?

Sigmond-I have seen other drivers drilling another hole in the top plate (just behind the hole for the antenna). Move the antenna mount to the new hole and use the transponder mount (from the old Yoke TC special) in front of the antenna. I have also seen the hole in the front shock tower being used, with some creative persuasion to make it work. I hope this makes sense.
