Hey TFR!
I noticed that we have both Z's as our Avatar...but almost 2 decades apart. Do u like Z's too? Do u have one?
Back to the topic...so TRF is more expensive? Because its carbon fiber? But FRP doesnt have as much flex as the tub right?

TRF stands for Tamiya Racing Factory. It does not nessarily mean it's Carbon- Chassis. But it usually is. For example, the F103LM TRF consists of Carbon-fiber chassis plate and a FRP motor plate.
FRP stands for Fiber-Reinforced Polymeric/Plastic material.
FRP material is pretty strong, I do not believe it has more flex than a tub chassis if the tub chassis is made by plastic only.

I'm not working on any project...I just want to know the diff bet the two...I'm thinking of getting another TA-03...and I wonder which is the better chssis and why...
If the FRP has more flex than the tub then why will ppl get the FRP? Dont you think the tub has more flex already?

because someone is selling his TA-03F for 2,500 pesos...around $49 with lots of aluminum hop ups and includes an FRP chassis

FRP material does not provide more flex. FRP means FIBER-REINFORCED Ploymer/Plastic. Which is much stronger than regurlar plastic. So of course it's stiffer than regular plastic.

*tamiya aluminum hub carrier,
*tamiya aluminum rear upright,
*tamiya aluminum steering arms,
*front and rear upper turnbuckles,

*flourescent sway bars,
*tuned shock springs,
new tires
and all extras from the kit
He starts at $78 then $60 now its only $49 and I still plan to bargain it at $45...
Also he's selling Micro RS4 for $87 with one servo, now its down to 68. Maybe I'll get both for $107...

zxt: I prefer the rs4 sport for racing instead of the tamiya ta03.
All: With all the talk about tub, FRP and graphite having more or less flex, I would like to know how do you guys determine if the tub, FRP and graphite has how much flex? Is it measurable? Only when we can get some actual measured data we can make a conclusion decision. After that, we'll have to determine if flex is good or not. Anyone?

I meant Micro RS4 not Sport...
I have a Sport myself...
About the flex maybe they measures it how stiff and hard it is...the harder and stiffer the less flex...

The way to determine if a chassis has more flex or not, is to look at the material it's made of, also the structure of the chassis itself.
It's hard to say which one has more/less flex by just looking at it since FRP chassis is usally a flat chassis, and tub chassis, you know, like a tub. Structure wise, Tub might provide less flex. However comparing the material of the chassis, the difference is very obvious.
FRP = Fiber Reinforced Ploymer/Plastic which is much stronger than Plastic. There are many different ways to make the FRP chassis, for example, the lay out of the fiber could be waven, or multi-stitiched, or cross weft, or the combo of all, true multiaxial. Generally, they are all pretty strong, however, the more complex their molecular structure is, the harder/stiffer it is, since the there are less space inside it's own molecular structure for it to flex.
Generally, FRP material are about 6 to 10 times stronger than Aluminium, and 7 to 11 times stronger than steel, per GPa/g/cm^3, depend on it's structure.
Plastic is weaker than Aluminium and Steel. Even with it's Tub chasis design adventage, It is not stiffer than FRP material, consider that it's molecular structure is much weaker than FRP material.
