Question about GQ Foam Tires
 

I'd like to try out the GQ foam tires but their rating system is completely different from the Jaco and BSR tires that I usually use. Normally I use a double pink/double pink-orange combo with the Jaco tires so I'm looking for something similar to that. Can someone give me a recommendation and some more information on these?

I believe red/tan up front and tan in the rear is what you're looking for.

Are you running 10th scale or 12th scale??

If 12th Scale, Tan or Pink is the rear is a pretty good starting point...up front, you can try black or purple or one of the dual compounds (black/grey or red/purple)

For 10 TC - you can try grey rears and black/grey fronts...

Thanks guys. I run 1/10 touring. Do they have a shore rating chart somewhere? I didn't find squat on the web site and Competition RC didn't have much either. I think I'll give the red-red/tan combo a shot.

I can't find the shore rating of them at the moment, but I'll keep looking. You can also shoot an email to Joseph at Competition RC, he's extremely helpful, and should be able to answer all your questions.

black/gray 45/40
red/magenta 55/40

tans=35
magentas and grays=40

Parma
Cyan = 35/55
Plaid = 40/55
Purple = 40
Magenta = 35

I've had a fantastic experience with the GQ tires in terms of wear and durability. We were blazing through the Parmas (cyan, magenta) in our brushless 4300 foam class at a rate of 2 to 1, fronts to rears. The GQ's last about twice as long and wear more evenly front to rear.

If you like them, let your hobby shop know and have them order some from Competition RC.

Is your Fastlane carrying them, Adam? How much? I was bugging our LHS about getting some in last week but I haven't heard anything new. I'm looking forward to trying them. Unfortunately my driving isn't good enough to make the Jaco wheels last more than one or two race days before I break one. I suck.

Not yet, but I think the guys at Fastlane are trying to work something out so they can carry them. One of the local racers owns a Hobbytown, and I believe he just got setup with them to start carrying their products. I don't know what they charge, but I imagine they'll be similar in price to the GQ website. A few other guys have shown interest in the tires, especially since they seem to wear much better. I can't tell you much about the durability since I've never broken a rim, but I've heard good things about them. We don't seem to break many rims at our track, even during spectacular crashes. I'm always surprised to hear about it from elsewhere, 'cause I can hit some boards when I'm having a bad night.

Kind of off topic, but I'll probably be traveling to Denver a lot prior to our possible move there. If I end up driving one of those times, maybe I'll come out and try a club race with you guys. I may have to disguise my LiPo, though, I don't have any NiMH at the moment.

are the GQ foams the ones that come trued to 58mm?
how are they for traction. they say the Jaco wraps have the most grip(traction).
are they offset like the parma's? so i don't have to cut the rim to fit the T2 007.

Right on. I don't think anyone would care about the Lipo as long as you cleared it with the race director and were just running for fun in one of the classes. One of the guys was running a 4800/13.5 last Wednesday night with us. I think it could be a good chance to expose everyone at our HT to Lipo.
