I'm running the normal wheelbase, just as short as I can go here at sir now... but that super short stuff would be reaaally interesting to see how it does.

Sounds like the short wheelbase is worth trying. Even if it's not the ideal internal ratio for brushless on asphalt, I think you should be able to get the right gear in there with a 2.47 internal.

So what parts are needed to do the conversion? Just new belts and pullies or do we need different rear diff mounts too?

What difference do topdecks make? If you went from 2.9mm to 2.4mm what would that do?

Thinner topdecks will enable the car to flex a little more. Usually flex will help give a little more mechanical grip, and help the cars work really well on lower traction surfaces (rubber tires on asphalt or something)

We use thicker topdecks in really high grip conditions (carpet on foam tires usually), to free up the car and let it roll through the corner a little easier.

I've always tended to think a thinner topdeck will give more steering and grip at the cost of corner speed, while thicker ones tend to make the car push a tiny bit more, but usually has more potential to carry more corner speed in really grippy conditions.

I think you just need a different rear belt. You can flip the stock diff carriers over to bring the diffs forward.

I tried the ultra short wheel base about 6 months ago. If I remeber correctly, you need a different rear belt, and different layshaft gears. All you have to do is flip the diff cams in the bulkheads so the diffs are forward. I wanted to get to the 2.47 internal for stock racing. The ratio was completely unnoticeable due to the change in spur gear size in order to attain the correct final drive. However, the ultra short wheel base has a lot of potential. I remeber the car had lot of steering without sacrificing corner speed. The car was smooth on center and drove off the corner. I think we need to go to this short wheel base for asphalt only if we dont have to change the internal ratio. I will be next to impossible to hit the correct roll out while using a brushless motor.

I havent seen him in person since the first week in january. I have only heard of his legandary runs in both stock tc and stock 12th via the amazing coverage of the races.

What i do know is both of the cars 12th and touring are some very nice stuff. Performing very well in both rubber tire and foam tire, and 12th scale. I sometimes still wonder why i went blue.

I have a question about the shock trick using the losi spacer. When you perform this, does the shock leak out of the bottom? I did it to one of my shocks, and it makes the shock shaft seem real loose, so I was worried about how well it sealed. Also, do you guy use this set up on asphalt, or just foam carpet racing? Thanks
