Rechargable M8 Battery Pack?

Rechargable M8 Battery Pack?
I am tired of changing out the batteries on my m8 every couple of days and want to get some rechargables for it. It looks like the pack airtronics makes is around 70 bucks and that is kinda rediculous. I noticed the charging jack on the bottom of the m8 battery tray, have any of you just purchased some individual rechargable cells, bought a male plug to fit the jack and used a regular charger to charge the whole tray/pack?

I have purchased rechargable akalines for mine last year.
They came as a package with the fast charger (8 cell charger).
The great thing about this solution, is it is less expensive,
you can charge them over 100x easily and they are 1.5v instead of 1.2v for the nicads or nimh, so it is stornger.
Works great and I can go at least 2 race days without having to recharge.

airteonics makes a trickel charger that has a corde for that tray and a recever pack it is cheap and works well. you can get som 1200 of 1500 aa cells and have great power on you m8
plus for the price of the seald pack you could put together 3 normal trays with rechargable

Personally, I'm simply using 8 AA-NiMh in my KO EX-11. I think NiMh double-A can be found in 1800 mAh, which will last very long on one charge.

Rechargable Cells
I use 1800 NIMH batteries and a plug from radio shack that plugs right into the jack on the M8s battery tray. Then charge it off my Millenium. Have had no problems.

I charge at .6amps on NIMH setting. Absoultely no problems at all. Yes just split the wires put a plug of some sort on the end and connect it to your charger and your done.

Tech Regular
I bough AA NiMH's from radio shack, used a Dremel to make a hole in the bottom of radio, so I don't have to pull the radio tray out. I used a tyco 9.6v NiMH charger (for their little cars) and soldered a plug onto the wires after removing the tamiya connectro.
So all I do is plug it right in through the hole in the bottom of the radio.
The charger is a radio shack, or tyco charger for 9.6v packs.

Slightly off-topic, but here goes: It's a good idea to discharge those TX-batts from time to time to 0,9 volt pr. cell. I didnt do it for 1½ a year, then I did, and it helped a lot on the capacity. (NiMh type)
