Something new from the Slapmaster Shop;

I have a new brush cavity tool coming out Dec 8th. If you like to use a cavity or a hole in the center of a brush to further tune your motors, this might just be the easiest tool to use and the least expensive on the market. The tool comes with two bits to work with: #53 (.0595") or 1.5mm and #49 (.073") or 1.85mm. The bits are finger operated, no power tools required. Simply lay the brush in the slot, hold it down with your thumb, select the bit size, insert it into the hole & twist away for a perfectly centered hole in the end of your brush. The pilot shaft on the bit fits into the brush jig without wearing out the jig. The brush tool is small so it will not take up valuable space in your pit box.

Availability should be around Dec 8, 2006.

I will be doing what I can to get it to some of my favorite retailers... so start bugging them now! They like that. :nod:

Looks like it will do both laydown and stand up. It puts the hole in the center of the brush so if it is a standup brush, just lay it down and dril the hole. Brian, 1 thing that would be nice is if the finger holders for the bits were knurled.

Knurling might be on the next run, but for now, they are brush finish. It's kind of nice really, it doesn't rough up your finger tips.

Yes, stand up or lay 'em down. No round or octagonal, though.

I didn't see Korgea's design, wish I did.

These little things are actually really cool. I personally run cavities in almost all of my laydown brushes for stock and 19T, so this is an awesome idea. It's not outragously expensive, and it's small. Perfect for any club racer looking for an accurate tool to drill cavities. It's WAY easier than using an Xacto knife blade and a drill bit.

Any plans for a Checkpoint round brush version?

What is so special about this jig? what makes it any better than the EA, Putnam, or Niftech jigs? other than it being silver. will i be any faster at my local track by using this over the other companies tools?

I can tell you one thing. I have the niftech jig and the drill bits are so small they tend to be hard to work with. If the drill bits are included with this one..... they look to be a lot easier on the fingers.

other than that, it seems fairly similar. maybe priced lower?


and also.... I have a slapmaster diff on my 1/12. Simply put.... best idea/invention ever. Everyone is jealous when they see it and see me rebuilding diffs once a year instead of once a week.

I already have this one, but if you can do it cheaply it will be a big seller.

I don't think that there is anything "more special" about this cavity tool other then it costs less and comes with two bits that do not require a power tool or pin vice to operate. ... and it's super easy to use. In the end, you get a hole centered in the brush. The others are good looking products too.


I haven't looked at doing a jig for round brushes yet. Sounds like I should.

Korey keeps "bumming" my prototype. He's been asking for the 1st one off the line for a couple of months. I can't watch him drive xacto blades into his fingers anymore :eek:
