that depends on a million other things like:

what class will you race in?
how many $ you are going to spend?
does it have to be waterproof?
are you a new driver, or experienced?
what charger do you have?

when you say 'Best' do you mean 'best best' or 'best on a budget of...'

if money is no issue, get a novak GTB as it will run just about any brushed or brushless motor on the RC market, if you are a newbie, get a 13.5 turn novak brushless motor

Get a Novak HV series with a HV4.5t brushless (3424) and a team orion 4800lipo batt (make sure you charger can do lipos on the cc/cv method)

with this setup you will abolutely whip the nitro (assuming you can drive it)

the 4.5t HV brushless has 750watts of power, and the xray setup will be under 1500g, the nitro will be probably over 2000g, depending on gearing, you will have more acceleration and better cornering ability, with better top speed.

It will be so fast as to be almost undrivable...

Is this a drag race or round a circuit?

That is going to be one hell of a expensive friendly race.

You could beat him with 1/4 the $$$$

the 3.5, even though it produces much less power, will probably be much more drivable, and you'll still kick butt... go for it, and report back your findings...

Default Top of the Line

If you want top of the line than you want Xray. You might just have to wait a bit.

yeah I'd have to agree with _pilot_ , for top of the line 1/10 touring cars is an xray or an xray. T2, or T2r (if you want to save some cash)

I definately wouldn't change your mind just because it is out of stock.

it will be back in stock.

and a lot of guys are going to be selling their T2 in anticipation to buy the new T2.

just have patience and wait.

cyclone?
