no not at all,but i did go up in drill size gradually until i came to the hole size required, just avoiding any possible damage or distortion to the spur gear

Is anyone willing to post pics of their rear battery side bulkhead mod to fit lipo hard packs? Thanks!

Don't have any pics handy, but just cut off the front most screw hole and sand the cut smooth. Thus, you'll only have one screw holding the top deck on the battery side rear bulkhead.

Any real difficulties keeping up with current sedans with the 007 gentlemen?

Are there some changes or upgrades I should consider to make me more competetive?

Rubber version.

Dave.

Thanks CJ. I just bought a gently used 007 (US), really looking forward to driving an xray!

Not really. A lot of the parts are the same (or at least interchangable) between the '007 and '008,'009. The arms are almost identical (except only one shock mounting hole on the '008,'009) the C hubs and steering knuckles are the same, rear uprights, and diffs. The geometries have changed a little bit due to differences in bulkheads and the chassis, but the '007 is still very competitive.

You guys know if the US and EU 007 chassis have the same screw holes? I am thinking of experimenting with the narrow top deck on the thicker US chassis for rubber tire...

007 is still very capable car. I was able to beat my own time done with 10.5T motor and 008 car, with 007 car and 19T team checkpoint motor (only modification were silver brushes) about 2 months ago (it was race where were 10.5T and 19T splitted into 2 categories for qualifies but after I showed to organistators that they are equivalent they joined them for finals - I had first 2 places on starting row). Upgrades used for 007 were - composite spool from 008 kit and anti-rollbars. Nothing else. And I used NiMH cells, maybe LiPo change something.

Here you go. If you want to use the Core 5000, you'll need to raise the top deck, and prob. need to take it back further. This (per pic) gets a 4000 and smaller pack in with no top deck mods.
