I used to run Yokomo but the lack of parts just sent me running for something more reliable. I ran a Corally for one race and sold it aferwards. Just wasn't for me. Schumacher never peaked my interest and Tamiya hmmmmmmmm no thanks. I currently run the FK05 and I'm very happy. In the 19T spec class we run in most of the cars are Xray also. Anything from the original T1 all the way to the FK05 on steroids
Since we dont have the seasonal changes that you guys have up North, the choices we need to make as to what car to get are limited. We only race outdoors on asphalt, track temperature around 90 - 100 degrees on foams.
Still trying to decide whether to get a T2 or T2R for asphalt next year. During this years Open Invitational race at the beginning of the year, we had a participant out of Holland show up with a T2 and he just took off and never looked back. He won the 19T spec class by a wide margin. Did everybody rush out to get a T2, well no not exactly.
As long as the car helps me stay ahead of the competition at a good price with great aftermarket service I'm all ears. All the cars are imported into the island also, so add about 30 to 40% to whatever yr paying for yr equipment, add in something for the currency fluctuations and you get an idea why the hobby can get costly.
As for the constant upgrades and what have you, well I think every company out there does this. The final decision however still lies with the customer.
I guess everybody uses whatever is best for them, but I'm staying with the Xray for now. Oh and that Team Tamale Fan Mount just adds to the overall enjoyment hmmmmmmmmmm. Too sweet.
