Foam-carpet racing, sometimes my chassis comes back with carpet gunk built up on the outer bottom. Is this a good sign that I'm allowing too much roll, and I should increase spring rates or raise roll centers?

I was told by a local pro, that it is ok as long as it is only the edges. Clean it off every run and keep and eye on it. If it starts being half the chassis, then you have to start looking somewhere else.

Cool

ok guys, ive got a breakage problem id like to solve. when i clip an apex too tight i break the lower part of the steering knuckle and the top of the caster block. will aluminum knuckles alone help with this. i suspect that when the bottom of the knuckle gives out, it allows it to twist in the block and break the top of the caster block too. yeah, yeah i know, stop hitting stuff, but you dont get fast driving a conservative line. this is usually a 10-15 dollar break depending on if i lose the bushings in the block or not, and id like to decrease its frequency. opinions? experience?

Aluminum steering blocks will transfer most of the damage to the c-hub. The steering block won't break but the hub will....Therefore cutting your damage control in half.

Jason

P.S.-Just got a 007 this weekend. Can't wait to run it for the last 3 weeks of racing.

Get a wide stiff bumper like the one Parma has. It will help the breakage some The hobby store up here also makes their own plate out of lexan and this really helps cause you can get right out to the edge of the body. Light and durable

Assuming that you are using the standard bumper, you need a Rubberneck bumper.

Do your axles extend out beyond the wheel nuts? They are notorious for getting snagged on the boards. Cut them down or use spacers (wider hex nuts) to make it so they don't protrude beyond the wheel nuts.

Xray makes a wide front lower bumper replacement that works very good as well.

Do you mean part # 301203 or a foam bumper? (If so what part # please.) I think they're referring to foam bumpers. I have the Parma, but I think the P-dub is a bit wider.

What size bearings do you need if you're running the alum. steering blocks?
