Newbie - Which Type Of RC Cars Have Longer Running Time..?
sorry guys for this newbie post.. but i have to know... anyway i want to know which type of car runs longer Nitro or Electric...with Full power..i mean top of the line product that can extend your play time..blassing that RC at full speed...
|
Almost any nitro car/truck/buggy....
|
aww.. dam..i was hopein that electric has a longer running time...
how long can an electric RC Car runs?.. |
Well, it depends of the size of a fuel tank on nitro.
Electric have been ran for 11 minutes with fast modifieds on LIPO. |
Electric - 1:10 scale pan car with a Li-Po battery and a Johnson motor geared high good speed and runtime close or over an hour.
A lot of guys are running with the gas guys using brushless and Li-Po around the country. While the gas have to pit to get fuel the Electric guys run the whole main no stops. Also a lot of these guys are winning so the fututre may see a ban on electric running against the gas guys. |

Both are fun! Nitro can get REALLY messy though compared to electric... Plus Electric can be run all year round indoors & outdoors...
|
We run gtb 4300 in a b4 and a bj4 and get over 20 mins run time at race speed outdoors( using an orion platnum lipo). Indoors you can run the traction compound off three to four times with the same setup in our xray touring cars. Outdoors there's no comparison in acceleration between gas and electric. Electric wins hands down everytime
Brushless and lipo's equal the field in run time and take it in lap times :ha: |

If you are a NOOB at RC, I would suggest the traxxas T-Maxx or Traxxas Revo to start. They are monster trucks for maximum fun-ness on all types of surfaces. They are ready to run out of the box, good startup instructions.
Also, spare parts are easy to get (you WILL break something, it's the only way to have the most fun :D ) If you decide to race, there is always a monster truck class at any off road RC track out there. Good luck. |

wat do you guys think the runtime of a 13turn would be with a 3000mah nimh battery?
|
hi guys i was gonna make a new post..need 1 more help...
which is better/"Safer" battery to use ... NiMH or Li-po |
Safer is a relative term. As long as you handle either nimh or lipo you should not have problems. Charge your batteries with the correct charger, at the appropriate settings recommended by the manufacturer. If you don't know what they are before you buy, contact the mfr for help.
However, if there is a problem with a nimh or lipo pack, the lipo pack is more likely to create collateral damage. An nimh cell will normally vent some gooey nasty stuff, where lipos have been known to create high heat or even fire under extreme circumstances. Though, I have seen some really nasty burns (to people) not paying attenting to how they handle thier nimh packs - but that will happen if you short out any fully charged battery. |
Which is better? I've gotten rid of all my nimh packs that I use offroad. I only keep nimh for TC (lipo batts don't fit in my jrxs's), not to mention they are not legel for regional level competition.
I've had great sucess with lipos. I have three packs that I have used to race in 2 different vehichles in 4 total classes. The cost to race 2 classes with nimh is very close to what it costs to have lipo packs. The only reason I run more classes now, is because I have lipos. Otherwise, I would need more nimh packs, plus discharge trays, etc. If you want to race 4 cell, then you have no choice except nimh. |
