Team Losi JRXS Type-R
Well, it's time for a new Losi thread, seeing as there is a new car to be released in the very near future. Those of you attending the IIC in LasVegas next month may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a pre-production car. If you have any ?'s about the new ride feel free to ask. I'm sure that Todd, Chicky, Dumas, Keven, Randy, or myself can provide some answers. Enjoy!
|
Ok, so does Type-R = rear engine JRX-S? As in the one several team drivers have been testing for a while now.
|
Yes, it's a rear motor car. However the production car will have a much cleaner and cooler look that the prototypes that we have been running the past year.
|
I am not ready to give up on the front motor car just yet. I believe I learn a little more about it every time I drive it. I will ask you one question though, will I notice a real difference from the new car to the old one on asphalt and if so how much difference? Ok, so maybe that was technically two questions!! :D I think the old car rocks on asphalt w/ the Numan setup. Will that same setup work on the new car or is it going to be completely different? Alright, so it was three questions. Come with Hodge to the sports bar in the lobby at the South Coast on Tuesday the 19th at IIC and I will buy you a beer for answering my questions. :D
|
Yes, you will notice a difference. The new car has alot more steering and generates more cornerspeed than the old car. As far as setup's, they will be different from the front motor car. Don't quote me on this but I think that when the new car gets released it will be carpet ready, as far as springs, swaybars, ect. Todd can jump in here and clarify that if he wants.
|
Are they sticking with the plastic bulkheads or moving to the more standard aluminum ones. Maybe some easier diff access?????

stiltskin - The bulkheads on the production car will be some trick looking aluminum ones.
Yeti35- Yup! |
Well Thats JUST GREAT ANDREW!!!!!!!
Now I have to try and dominate 2 threads instead of one!!! Thanks for the extra work there Buddy!! Just a fun'n Mr. Gray! :D Is there any way to get some pics of the production chassis or do we just need to wait for Vegas? You are correct on the carpet set-up. Todd posted a few days ago that the car will come carpet ready. Brant |
Can't wait to get mine, so it can be OVALIZED!
|
Any pictures of the new car?
|
|
When can we expect this new car to be released? I wanted to buy a new sedan for this carpet season.
|
"In 2 weeks............" LMAO!
Sweet I was the first to post it in the new thread! lol Actually Todd told me today they are shooting for October date to release the new car. |

Losi is shooting for a release date of October. The pic posted above is Mike Truhes' car. But like I said before the production car will look different than that. Just wait and see...Be paitent...Good things come to those who wait.

Yes |
What will the price be? Will it still be in the mid $300 range, or will it reach the $400 plus stratosphere like most top end touring cars these days?
|
Will this car come carpet ready? or will we have to buy an aftermarket chassis for carpet?

Performance gains?
Todd or Andrew-
Were the most advantage performance gains made in moving the motor to the rear or by making the suspension arms longer? Thanks, E |
I think the biggest performance gain was from the narrow diffs to be honest. Unfortunately my SoCal setup for the front motor car didn't work too well on the rear motor, so it's hard to compare them. Like Andrew has said though, the car definately has more steering and cornerspeed, and I think it's even easier to drive than the first car as well.
|
Randy,
With the narrow diff's, were the arms, drive shafts, made longer as well? Which would (possibly) aid in helping the chassis work better (roll)? I'm just shooting in the dark as I'm not an engineer. I would like to get back to driving an American designed (made) sedan. E |
So the new arms will not work on the old car? I was hopin I could just pick a set up for they are supposed to be stronger then the old ones. I guess I will have to consider a whole new car then.

As you guys said, it is going to be a carpet ready kit....
Is it going to be as good for asphalt as it will for carpet? |
I'm sure if you just lock up the front diff into a spool, or get a 1 way, it'll be just as good on asphault :)

In one of Rcca's last issue was Todge's car. There was a pic othe top motor plate with two metal thread inserts. Looks like an option for a electric fan. Will this be incorporated into the kit? That top plate looks like a perfect place to put one. Directly over the motor. ;)
|
I would like to vote against using ea3 stuff on this car.
Please. I wont get into details as of why, but I think it would be a mistake. |
