So the problem is mainly the lack of chassis flex and for rubber Tarmac it needs a longer arm setup? Why is chassis flex needed over just pure suspension adjustment? This car I feel is a jack of all traits. I agree losi needs to take a look at the platform again. I for one heavily considering sellin all my vintage traxxas (3SRT/TCP) stuff and get a 22t to go with my Type-R. What do you guys think?

The JRXS-R was the last of the foam tire monsters, and due to its short arms, stiff chassis, unique spur gears, and some other problems it's just not the best starting point for rubber tire racing. In my experience its biggest drawback for rubber racing is that its ball diff pulleys ride plastic on metal on the hub, meaning that the friction under racing conditions will cause the diff to tighten under acceleration. This can be worked around of course, but it's not totally fixable, and new cars come with super smooth and linear gear diffs. I pray for the return of foam tire racing, I will be the first in line to sign up.

If you have an Associated T4, don't buy the TLR (its NOT Losi) 22T as the truck is just kinda bad unless you put a lot of upgrades into it (think diff, links, driveshafts, bearings, ballcups and studs, shorty pack, stuff like that) and then it's still not better than at T4 is right out of the box.

no I sold the t4.1 last year. I have 3 Traxxas SRT and a TCP. They are beautiful vintage cars but I just can't run them bc I don't want to scratch them. I didn't like the quality the T4.1 when compare to my older U.S made T4 I had in 05. As for the diff a robinsion racig hardened aluminum diff gear for the xxx-t should work(I got to see which one has the same teeth count as the 22 diff). I love the quality of jrx-s so I figured the 22 would be the same. Sorry I'm not trying to steer this off topic from the thread haha.

I've always liked the oversized diff bearings. IMO one of the top reasons the drivetrain is so free.

I don't know if the 22 accepts XXX diff gear, but I do know that the old XXX gear was 12 balls and the 22 is 14... so I know they aren't the same in that respect (I don't run TLR gear). The 22 was built down to a price, it can be very good with about $150 extra into it but the eight years since the Type R was in development can change a company a lot. I am not saying the 22 cant be a good offroad car for you, one of the best racers at my track runs a 22 to loads of national event A-mains, but a good touring car does not mean a good offroad platform.

Honestly the quality of almost all off roaders has drop over the years. I will focus mainly on the jrx-s bc I feel it's had the most potential even against the current breeds. Got the forum for support if I need help. Ill keep the off road in the off road forums.

I'm thinking i'd like about $300 for everything, but I'm not sure what the value of the cars are, so make an offer once you get the pics.

Whats the largest hard cased lipo that will fit in the Type R?

From what I can tell about a 3800mah or whatever those less tall lipos are.

Now, if you go with a shorty pack, those fit without having to modify really anything other than the battery tray if the lipo on the lipos hits. I run a Promatch 4000mah shorty pack and it works great. I also use the full steel tray for more weight down low to compensate for the lighter pack.

I think shorties are up to 4600mah now I believe, maybe more.

Surprisingly enough, c-rating seems to be issue with figment. There are a couple 20c 5000mah packs to that will fit, but if you start shopping for 40c stuff it starts to get tougher to find. I think a lot of folks are running shorty packs. I use Nano-tech 4200 packs.

I use the Nano-techs as well in my car without the Flying fox layshaft. The car with the flying fax layshaft I can use pretty much most of the lipos on the market with a little triming on the front of the lipo tray.

I know the thunder power 40c 5000mah pack fit with no trimming.
