The formula from what I recall is:

( Spur / Pinion ) x Internal Drive Ratio = FDR

so, for your case you would do it like this:

( Spur * IDR ) / FDR = Pinion

Where Internal Drive Ratio (IDR) = 1 .83

Stock spur from the manual is a 128 tooth. So:

(128 * 1.83) / 5.00 ~ 47 Tooth Pinion

the question now those becomes with that fit. you may have better luck picking up a smaller spur gear and then giving it a try.

110/40 or 114/41. You will not get a 5.0 with the stock spur. Count the total number of teeth on the spur and pinion, add them together. If they go over 153 total, it is too big for the chassis (for 64 pitch).

82/30 48P is roughly the same as a 110/40 64P, Max is probably around a 119 count for 48P.

(Number of teeth/64) * 48 is a quick conversion for spur and pinion, then add them together.

thanks for the info.

I sat down and was able to mate up a 94T spur with a 33T pinion at the max. A 34T pinion would be pushing it, this all at 48P.

Hey guys. How is this car still doing? I sold a near mint one early last year and I regret it. I miss my type-r. Also parts doesn't seem hard to find yet. Now I might built one piece by piece bc I can't find any for sale. Also what is the part number for the sway bars and do you need 2 sets?

Oh TLR. If you re-release a updated Type-R or a new TC I'm switching to TLR. Losi quality is becoming top notch again and I feel you are listening to the racers need.

That would be part # LOSA4252:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...-s-LOSA4252#t2

From the looks of them you will need two sets if your setup requires the same size sway bars.

There is a guy selling one right now. I picked up one from him plus parts and it is in excellent condition.

The car as far as handling is great. I am an AE man at heart but always loved the layout of this vehicle.

First run in blinky 17.5 class using the setup on here for VTA and it worked great with a few changes.

This is one of the best TCs ever. Until something can replace it or Horizon runs out of spares, I'll keep my two. It is very sad that it wasn't properly supported (sponsored, advertised, put in the hands of paid drivers) when it first came out. I have the Flying Fox layshaft in both. I wish Pablo still made them! It's the one part everyone needs and I don't have a spare.

can you elaborate on what the flying fox layshaft is and what benefits you get from it?

Other than a few quirks that considering when the vehicle was made I am not too surprised are there (namely, the mini posts the steering assembly goes over is very soft material and if a screw gets loose, is a pain to tighten back up as there is no place to really grip it), very stoked about what I have.
