Looking at getting a JRXS-R to run in VTA. Is there anybody out there running VTA with this car? If so what roll out are you running? A basic chassis setup would be great. I am going to be running on low to med traction carpet. Also what fan is everybody running on this car?

Thanks for the help.

Chris

I'm run this car in VTA. I race at a track that is 90x40 and I'm running 3.80 final drive ratio. We generally have pretty good grip so I don't know how much help my setup would be for you. I'm also fairly new to this racing thing so anything I say really can be taken with a grain of salt. My setup evolved from one of the setups in the back of the manual so I basically started from scratch last spring.

FRONT / REAR
Toe: 0 /3
Ride Height: 5.0/5.2
Camber: 2/1
Kick/dive/squat: 0/.070 pro squat
Caster: 6
Droop: 3.5/4
Pivot: 0/2
Roll Center: Low/High
Arm Spacing: Mid/Forward
Shock Position: 1/3 & outer
Rack: Aft
Ackerman: Outer
Camber Link: 1/5 & outer
Sway bar: -/030
Drivetrain: diff .5 out/diff 1 out
Diff height: High/High
Hex: stk/stk
Shocks: 17.5 & 40wt/30 & 30wt
Spur: 106
Pinion: 51

I run the steel bottom tray, a Cirtix ESC with 28g opposite the speed control to balance & only sauce the inner half of front tires. This is how my car ended the day last weekend but it's still a work in progress as is my driving. Mostly it changes due to my driving learning curve so it may be complete rubbish for you

Just a Losi sport pack LOSB9861 I believe is the part number. It's nothing special. Besides, the battery is no game changer in VTA. It's actually kind of overpriced IMO but it gets the job done. I'm not lacking in the HP department in this class (nobody is really) I just need to keep working on my driving and setup. Let me know how that works for you if you try it out. I'm going to the track Saturday and plan to try a few things out.

Crc and promatch also make shorty batteries like the losi I'm sure there is more

Also I was told buy a few veteren drivers that I could shave the case on a larger lipo to help with the clearance issues

I've been considering picking up a pair of shorty packs for my TC ride. You can fit a pack that is 25mm thick if you slide it just forward enough to clear the rear bulkhead. I personally fit a Power Push shorty pack today at the track. Install it so the leads are rearward and you don't have to mod the upper deck to plug in.

I made some fairly significant changes to that setup throughout the day yesterday and I'm starting to get closer to challenging the front runners locally. My car dips and dives A LOT more than the fellas I'm chasing but on paper it's nearly just as fast.

Can you post a pic of that pack in your Type R and out of it?

I use a losi shorty and it works great

I place the battery all the way forward in the metal tray and then dremeled the top plate just a hair for the connectors

I heard exoteck had a lipo top tray

Yeah, it wouldn't take much dremel work to get it that way. Maybe a mm at most I'm guessing?

Yes, Exotek makes a top chassis plate but it does not mount to the 4 aluminum braces. That's one way to save a little weight although the chassis probably "works" more on track.
