WADAFA ! TTT

I will finally get to run at the horsharm indoor carpet this Sunday, Ray Murray who organised this "slow-birds" was kind enough to have this race on Sunday for rest of us!

to get ready for this race, I did few things on my machine.

I soldered input wires on back of a Tekin RS then soldered Deans in 90 degrees to make wiring more simple and save some high gravity mounted weight, 2pc of 12 AWG in few inches should be meaningful on car's cornering weight.

but...I can't shrink wrap the wires, I quit smoking 2years ago and got rid of all the matches, lighters and candles!

I'm going to start off with Greg sharpe's set up for the track to begin with, but that 2deg front anti dive and a 41t Fr pulley kinda got me worried. but oh well!

Here I come another roller coaster race day!

1st time on the horsharm
1st time trying totally different set up!
with 3 cups of coffee!!

me and Alex V (kwikdub) was PM each other from 8 in the morning today talking about this, telling each other HOW WE CAN'T WAIT!

Peace out brothers!

PS: more pics on my blog.

John, if the car is too twitchy for your liking try the following in order:
  1. zero drag brake, 10 push
  2. remove both anti-dive and anti-squat, also remove push control
  3. try less ackerman, use outer steering rack holes
  4. swap to 42 tooth pulley
See you Sunday!

then that will be my normal set up, haha

you should try a 57 pistons on front for less weight transfer to front too quick.

BTW got those white bladder for my shocks and it feel good! thanks

hello guys, am new to on road, my type Rs are still on the way. I read 250 pages on type R in 2 days but I think I need a quick answer cuase I have to buy parts b4 I finish reading all 700 pages. so

am going to run indoor carpet, 13.5T. please recommned me a set of foam tyes, and pinion size. am using mamba max 5700 now, but will buy 13.5t for it later.

please also recommend me a 13.5 BL system.which one is a drop-in fit? is LRP SXX STCOK/X12 a direct fit? Tekin is good, but I have to modify the motor to fit it in??

thank you in advance.

Yes, the X12 drops right in. The Duo1 also fits, along with all of it's "newer" sisters. The Novak Ballistic series clear by a mile too. Frankly, you usually don't need to mod the left rear pivot mount.

Default Gearing?

Ok, I just got a type-r and I need some info on gearing. I am running a SP 17.5 and I need to gear it around a 4.6-4.3 ( that was what worked best on my cyclone on our track). The car has a 116 spur and I cant get anywhere close to that as the motor is hitting the rear inner pivet block, do I just need to drop to a smaller spur or what are the norms on the spurs that you guys are running in 17.5. Thanks, Greg.

only motor that can have some fits problem is a Tekin 17.5 , if you wanted to run 118 spur with that you might have a problem.

How big is your track? With the latest adjustable timing ESCs, most tracks wouldn't necessitate running such a low numerical FDR. On our 100' indoor track, most of us are at 5.5 or higher, and using 118 or lower spurs works well. But to answer your prayers, grab a FlyingFox layshaft so you can use any common spur gear. That will allow you to fit more motors.

no no no

all the tekins are all in same size, what I mean was if you run 17.5 you will need a huge pinion gears then motor will touch a arm mount. which dont happend often in 13.5 motor.

unless you onw a Tekin motor dont worry bout it.

BTW a duo 2 by epic w/ Tekin RS is da bomb. or with the Novak ballistic motor/ aTekin RS
