The machinist that made these is a real busy guy last time I checked.. I'll ping him again and see if he's interested in making any more of these.

He also made 1 or 2 sets of rear hubs (I know Dumas got a set). I never managed to get these.

Anyhow, I'll let you guys know, but my hunch is he'll tell me "No".

Any ideas as to where i can lose some weight on this car? im gonna run open MOD and pro 13.5 this season and i prefer the power of my enerG 4600 nimh over any of the lipo's ive tried, it comes in like a pig at 1586 grams and with the new rules dropping weight to 1500 grams i would like to lose as much as possible.

Lightweight bodies, low profile servo, no servo saver, Jaco wheels...
That's all i can think of, but i've never heard the losi to be a heavy car either.
In open mod you can run a 3.5 or a 2.5 with a five cell.

Without going Lipo though, i dunno what else you can do.

Also, shorter ESC wires, and novak's are also damn bulky as well, connectors add up, as well as the removal of unnecesary fans.

Depends on how drastic you want to go to lose the weight. Short case servo, no servo saver, trim the inside open on the c hubs a bit trim some of the material on the rear bulkheads. All these were mentioned combine a light body with minimal paint. Shorten your wires to all your electronics...tons of things to do depends on how desperate you are. Soft foam bumper versus the harder one...I could go all night. Clean all the grease out of your bearings and use a light oil. All of this ads up I have 2 R's I have been toying with. The foam car weights in at 1402 race ready with a Checkpoint 5400 lipo n steel tray and the rubber car weights in at 1453 race ready. Electronics are Futaba 9550 servos LRP TC esc with fan and heatsink removed, PT under front diff, Spectrum mini receiver and all wires shortened to barely reach where they need to go.

Thanks for all the ideas guys...never really noticed how much extra wire i had on this thing. im sure taking in the wires along with cutting down the post that the battery tray screws to will be a good little chunk of that 80 extra grams

I wouldnt cut on those posts too much if at all if you are planning to run open mod. Being a major support for the car you may end up with a tweak you cant fix if you hit too hard. I tend to run my mod cars at full weight because when you hit you tend to hit hard...lol! Now for stock or any other class I'll shave as much as possible without weakening the car. Enjoy!!!

Default Speed control placement......

I am changing from a brushed motor/speedo set-up in favor of a Losi brushless system. Which side should I install the speedo, left or right? I have seen both.

Default Setup?

Hi all,

I've just got hold of a 2nd hand Type R (needs an overhaul though, where's Foose!?). I am going to strip the whole thing down and rebuild it, but I was wondering how good the suggested kit setup for tarmac is? Are there any changes/improvements that I need to make before I hit the track.

I will be running on a tight, med bite tarmac track so any advice would be appreciated.

I used to run a JRXS a few years back, loved that car once I got the setup nailed!
