I mostly run 1/8th onroad during the summer and 1/12th and 1/10th in the winter. I have only run the Corally RDX Phi, which I still have, but I wanted to try some other manufactures. Not everyone clicks with the same car. Corally is a good car but I want to explore others. The Type R seems so Lipo friendly as well.

Looking forward to running some electric... after the 1/8th GLC and Nats of course!

The type-r is an interesting car, i almost traded it for a phi and changed my mind and i'm glad i did. Once you get the car setup properly it does the work you just watch .

I saw a few people talking earlier about which Lipos fit better in the steel tray... I am just starting to go Lipo on Electric and wasn't sure if a brand or capacity was particularly better or worse than the other. They don't have specs on them like the NiMhs do.

Is a 3200 fine or a 4000 or a 5000... it's all just run time right? And brand I would think is most important.

Thanks,
Clay

I would get a trakpower 4900 or an Orion one. They fit perfect and have all the run time and punch you will ever need.

i have Checkpoint 5400 and it works great, and fits w/ very little modificatio. You have to expand the upper deck clearance where the battery plug sockets are attached.

team losi has a 5000 20c coming out shortly.

the best packs I've tested with the most run time and power/performance are Trackpower 4900 25C and SMC5000 28Cpacks. The Trackpower 4900 works on the Losi. SMC5000- I've seen several posts from people stating they do fit in the Type R...but I myself have not tried fitting them.

CORE5000 packs fit perfect as well

How do people like the losi brushless speedo and motor compared to the novak gtb motor and speed?

both will be 10.5's

I know it was probably posted here somewhere, i just didn't find anything anywhere.

thanks.

I like the speedo, but that is all I got. I had no interest in more BL motors. It works very well with my 13.5 Pro Novak.

Thanks guys.

i'll be picking one up soon (whenever they get it in stock at my lhs).

Do you guys run the speedo on the left (veiwed from the back) of the chassis as larry f. did? if you do, what was the reasoning?
To me it just seems like a much cleaner wiring layout.

Also, is it just me, or was larry using a bigger capacitor on his speedo? Is this to increase punch/braking/smoothness?

here's a pic of his setup.

(you gotta scroll down a bit)

thanks.

I have mine on the right and have weight around the micro Spektrum receiver to balance the car out. Since the motor attaches on the left I figured it would be more balanced this way. The cap in the pic looks like the one I have on mine.

Larry, Ron, and myself all put our speedos on the driver side (left side) of the car since that's where we always put it. And just like you said, the wiring is cleaner as well. I had my speedo laying flat for a couple weeks, but since stould it up like Larry's and it definitely helps the car's balance.

And yes, Larry is using a larger capacitor. They did a lot of testing at the Reedy race and the larger cap seemed to help a little bit. I don't believe it's something that's a must though. The larger cap is a Losi item as well.

Cap on Larry's car: http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB9370

There are some photo's of cars a couple pages back:
Team Losi JRXS Type-R <== in the middle there is a trick red one.

Larry posted photos: http://www.rctech.net/forum/showpost...postcount=7116

More photos including my car on this page:
Team Losi JRXS Type-R

I decided i was going to wait on a new speedo to redo my wiring.
