Someone else will have to jump in on the faster motors, I don't have any experience with them. I believe they're less torque biased than the higher turn motors, so they may not "yank" as much as a 13.5 or 10.5. I believe the 3.5, for example, needs a notoriously low gearing, which is part of the reason the 13mm rotor was released, to give it more torque and make it a little easier to gear since there weren't pinions small enough for it.

ok here are some questions.
i am brushed right now but want to go to brushless.
im waiting on the r1 to come out.

what should i rollout at with a 13.5 motor on rubber tires?....in mm

what lipo packs you guys using? i seen a type-r go up in flames last night cause of wrong battery size in it.

are you guys pretty much all using one-ways for carpet using rubber tires?

i seen a set-up a few pages back i want to check out.

inless you all have something for a med. bight track.
i am using cs-22 to make good traction.

thx,
matt

Not much is known about Tekin's 13.5, or how/where to gear it, so you might ask them what they suggest. I don't know if they'll be able to drive the sensored motors like Novak/LRP or not, and if they can, how the gearing would change. Since that's a sensorless controller, you might have the most luck using their motors.

With the LRP 13.5/sintered and the Novak 13.5/sintered(13mm) with rubber tires I was running around a 51/118. I'm not sure what that comes out to in rollout. If you use the standard sintered rotor in the Novak you'll want to drop down 4-5 teeth to start.

As for LiPo, the Orion Platinum 4800 is a perfect fit. I tried a MaxAmps pack, and it fit okay, too, but I secured it with tape (to the LiPo tray) to make sure it didn't move around. Any flat pack thats around 137mm long should fit one way or the other.

If you use NiMH, revise those pinions down a couple of teeth to make up for the increased voltage/RPM.

I broke a rear arm the other day. I didn't get any repsonses to my ea3 question so i'd have to guess i got an arm from the first batch. I've ordered some new ones hopefully they are not from the same batch . For the time being i have the older graphite parts from the Pro on the car and it seems to not even notice the difference.

I saw the Xcelorin at the iHobby show today...@ $129.00 for the ESC and $174.99 for a combo it looks like they are targeting the Mamba Max segment of the market. Cheap speed!

128-24 for a 4.5 is good. Don't put the 36 in, you will melt it down.

For 13.5 with Novak motor on rubber I ran a 108 or 112-43 on a 96x48 track with nimh.

The rear arm breaking has to be from the first batch of arms. You should have no problems with the later batches. If you put the old arms in, did you change your suspension blocks for the shorter arm?

Supposedly Losi (or Spektrum) has a sensored ESC on its way as well. Presumably, it will be targeted more at the racing crowd? It looks pretty small in the "spy" pics.

The new site looks fantastic. The dropdown menus seem to be broken and unusable in Safari. That's the default browser that ships with Macs, FYI.

Morris I would give losi some time before you go for brand new stuff let the others find the problems. You can't go wrong with the LRP TC Spec or Novak GTB for an esc.
Stock Brushless motors are 13.5 for "super stock" 17.5 is stock.

I've started running the 17.5 in place of the 13.5. The early results have been impressive. My 13.5 setup was way too "in" the track for that motor. I had to free the car up to get up to speed. Car was awesome after that. I was actually almost 3 whole laps faster with the 17.5. I'm not top a 5%er, so the softer hit out of the corners kept the car settled and on line. My final drive was 4.4 on rubbers. I think I could have gone a little lower. The smoother power band help me run as fast as our 10.5 class. Slower is faster.
