Only LiPo for now. If I attend a larger race in the area, I'll have to man up and buy some NiMH. :-)

Why do I feel like I'm being tricked into something? There must be a post somewhere I haven't seen yet.

So this is kind of a general question, but I figured I'd throw it out here since I get chased out of every other thread. :-D Ahem...

Anyway, do you guys use dual-rate at all, or do anything special with EPA? Since I started, I've used full throw in my steering with my dual-rate at 100%, and have learned to use very small amounts of input to control the car, especially when it's at speed. But, it seems like a lot of guys are constantly fiddling with dual-rate to take steering out. Is it just a matter of preference? I've heard guys talk about setting dual-rate so you do 5.5 foot circles, but I'm definitely NOT in that boat. My car will practically turn in on itself.

I am constantly messing with my dual rate. I am pretty sure Todd sets up his car around 100% steering as you are doing. I set my left and right steering balance to get my circles equal and then adjust dual rate from there.

Huh, maybe I'll experiment with it then and see if it smoothes things out for me. I'm thinking maybe I'm using too much steering to get through the turns and not being as smooth as I could be.

I ran the car tonight without any additional weight (LiPo) to try and make up some speed on the guys running NiMH. The car seemed faster in a straight line, and I could give it a lot more gear, but I couldn't get the rear to settle down. It would start the race really well, but get pretty loose by the end of the race, especially on corner exit.

It's probably not worth pondering too much, since most everybody runs with weight rules, and I was just doing it as an experiment. Presumably, with enough setup, it could be made to work, but I don't want to develop any bad setups or habits.

I'm running about 80% dual rate - my local track is a bigg-ass nitro track - I can turn 180deg in 1/2 a lane, so dont need much more steering - when I run at another track though (about 1/4 the size of ours) I'm up to about 95%

Everyone usually uses rp 30s a premounted rubber tire on asphalt. Average cost is between $30 to $35 a set of four. If you use foams on a asphalt you won't get but a 1/2 a run on one set.

I found a "chart" on Tower...from hardest to softest:

cyan, plaid,purple, magenta.

is that right? where do the pinks and oranges fit in?

As far as I know those are all foam compounds. The pre mounted rubber tires are ranked by their inserts and are available in 27's 30's 32's and 36's all Take Off products. Jaco also came out with a rubber tire a month ago available in greens and blues where greens are 28's and blues are 32's.
