Hi All.
I wanted to report in that I raced yesterday (carpet/rubber tire) with my Type R and the car was absolutely unbelievable.
For those of you on the fence trying to figure out what rubber tire car to get, this cars was out-handling almost all of the new euro purple cars that showed up.
As a newer driver (only 6 months), I am typically a middle of the pack guy as I hone my driving skills. I have such confidence with this car that I'm really giving the big boys a run for the money(and feel like I really have a shot at it).
Anyhow, at least 10 people came up to me and commented on how hooked up the car is and how well I'm driving (which I mostly contribute to how hooked up the car is).. I honestly believe my car had probably the best setup (for the conditions) at the race.
Thank You! to all of you that have that have been answering my questions on this forum..
I'll try to post soon my setup sheet (carpet-with really low traction/Rubber).
Until then, the basis to my setup are:
1: Widen the rear to max width... Period. Don't do anthying else 'till this.
2: 15lb springs all the way around.
3: Sorry no spool, just to squirly with such little traction.. Run a pretty tight Diff.
4: Low roll center front and back.
ps- did anyone come up with an editable setup sheet?.... If not, I'll work on one. Let me know.
Thanks again.
Mark

Wow.. very, very close to where I ended up for a carpet/low traction/rubber tire/medium track flow set up.
I had your identical setup and really liked going to the wider hexes in the rear.
It really fixed the constant quest for steering that I was on.
I'd highly reccommend this for anybody looking for a good place to start on carpet/rubber tire.

Going Brushless.....
Guys I am going going brushless soon and was wondering if I should be gearing my car differently. The track I run at is outdoors and I typically try to run around a 6.5...I am running the stock 128/64p spur gear...do I need to change that...also it is a 13.5.

In that case I'd better try widening up the rear a bit then!

A safe place to start would be 4.5 fdr for a sintered rotor or 4.8 fdr for a bonded rotor

118/45-47
or get the adapter to change to standard spurs and try 100/38-40
48 pitch won't help you hit that ratio

100/40 = 4.57 fdr....sintered
100/38 = 4.81 fdr...bonded
good places to start
