DIY RC stuff

Has anyone made something for their RC car or pit equipment that they would like to share with rest of us?? Something that you could not buy elsewhere, or was too expensive, or just wanted to make so you could say that you made it yourself.
Here is an example of something that I made because the original was too expensive and I needed it to do more than one job. This is a tyre warmer voltage controller (controls tyre temp) that allows me to put anywhere from 4v to 12v into the tyre warmers. It also can run the Johson 540 motor on my Team Cobra lathe and can vary the speed if need be. And it can also alllow me to run in my stock motor. Here is a pic of the first and second efforts.
It can be anything practical, not just electrical.

Hey guys,
GREAT forum idea this. Regarding this PC power supply above. I have detailed instructions to build your own. Unfortunately the doc doesn't indicate a voltage pot, but it does allow for 12volts & 5volts respectively.

just wondering for people who design their own chassis and part.

What software are you guys using?

Autocad / Power Mill etc?

aoizip-I personnally use Surfcam 2003, you can draw it up and post process(g code) to the machine that you have. You can use Autocad to draw it up, but you still have to generate code. I've made Tamiya Bruiser lower shock mounts, battery heatsinks, and numorous odds and ends for my car and others. You would be surprised at how much you can shave off of a gear or other areas of your car to free up some weight.

Well done. I guess you cant do better than that when it comes to DIY.
How long did it take you from design to completion? How well does it drive?

we use gibbscam for our cad drawing and post processing.very simple yet powerful system.we do alot of our developement on gibbscam and also with autocad.

I've done a lot of cutom fab for my rustler. Nows its a 2wd truggy style truck with an odd looking rusty body.

Drew, what were the specs on the pot you used. I also made up some tyre warmers, but the lowest resistance pot i could get was 500ohms, which when putting in 12v, means that it cuts the voltage down to zero with only a few mm of turning the pot. so I have been running the warmers off my charger, which is not ideal, as I want to peak the pack at the same time that the warmers are doing their thing.
