Jason is right, with the stock rotor it performs like a good 19T.

The motor is rated at 196W peak power and a turn comparable lap times to a checkpoint or reedy 19T.

For comparison good peak wattage readings I got off my dyno for other 19T are as follows:

C2 mid to high 180s
Reedy 19T (quad mag) mid to high 190s.
Checkpoint 19T high 190s to low 200s
orion element low to mid 200s
Reedy w/ milled stacks 210-220 range
orion w/ milled stacks 220-230 range

On track the 5800 performs about the same as the machine wound reedy or checkpoint. Its better than a C2, Orion or any hurt motor but not as good as the handwound milled stuff.

Your findings are probably true in the sportsman mode. But in unlimited mode they are much faster than any 19 on the market.

My Yokomo MR4TC-SD with the 5800 in it and my FK05 with a QM in it are pretty much neck and neck.... Nice thing about the speed sensor on the Nomadio.... The 5800 gets there much quicker and I may be running a little less gear than I can be with it... The Yok is also a bit heavier and a 68 Camaro body with HPI vintage wheels and the Xray has an Alpha with foams.... So, the 5800 IS probablt quicker, but not by much.... The yokomo is my "I'm so bored I'm going parking lot bashing car.... "

At our local track we have been racing 5800's and 19T together all summer. I would say the motors are almost identical power wise...they certianly are identical lap time wise. The 5800 has a little more bottom end grunt but a good 19T may have a little more top end. It all works out.

Check the Pro 19 results at www.speedlinehobbies.com over the last few months. The field is 50/50 19T/5800. You tell me if you can spot anyone with and advantage.

The guy that wins most of the time, Dave Croy, runs a CP Money 19T. I won last weekend running an Orion 19T. Protc3 (Jason Breiner) won a few weeks ago with his 5800. The guy that drives the best and has the best car setup usually wins no matter the motor he runs.

I am getting a 5800 just because I pit with protc3 all the time and I get mad when I have to thrash to cut motors and he is just hanging out chillin.

Most of the 2wd mod buggy guys run Velociti 6.5R (5 or 6 cells depending on traction) or 7.5R's (6 cell).

The 5800 is an 8.5 and would not be competetive if you have a fast group of mod 2wd drivers.

yeah, its fun watching you cut motors adrian.

as for the 5800 smoking 19's and running like a strong 14,i do not agree at all.the 5800 motor runs pretty good.it is in no way stand out faster than a well built 19.adrian is correct on the power differences.the 5800 is stronger on the bottom and a well built 19 that is geared properly usually has a slight bit more on top.i have run against poorly built 19 turns that i pass down the straight away and almost take the stickers off there car but if you have a well built 19 you will keep up with a 5800.try the 4.5 sometime.that is like a strong 8 turn.if you think the 5800 is fast, you will leave the track with your hair spiked after running the 4.5.

I was running at a track that allows the 5800 "in sportsman mode" in the 19t class. Granted it's Oval, but there was noone including myself that could even think about keeping up. I even went as far as to let my son drive it here at the house while I tried to chase him down in his TC3 with one of my race prepped Cobalts. When I put it in full mod, one of my 12dbl's barely beat it. I'm not arguing whether or not about anything. I just want to know if you guys are running the 5800 in mod or sportsman mode?

Like I said, I have mine set up for bashing... I have it doing 35mph with decent runtime so I'm happy.... I guess I could drop a tooth or three on the pinion and get some more speed out of it.
