Accidentally Soaked a Battery Pack in Water: Ruined? :(
I accidentaly soaked a battery pack of mine in some water. Stupid mistake. Is it ruined?

No, as long as you allowed it to come to a slow boil.

if you happened to have any methanol laying around you can just dip it in that, it will dissapate the water into it, then evaporate probably within 5 minutes.

My curiosity is killing me, please tell how you managed to submerge a battery pack in water?
ThanX!

This might not be on topic, but at a club race about a week ago, someone dropped a body clip into their battery box and i think the foam cause fire. Thats some scary stuff.

Drove the car into a pool? Tried to wash the battery?

with the old ni-cad batteries we used to dead short them and throw them in a bucket of water (so they wouldn't overheat from the shorting) this greatly increases the voltage of the pack with a slight lose of run time and battery life.

Was it really worth it? How much runtime and life was lost?

like i said it was done to ni-cad batteries i don't know if it would work on ni-mh, its been a long time but it may have cut the life of the battery around 75%, and cut the run time down no more than a 200-300 mah.
i used to work at hobby shack and we had those little tamiya cars that ran in the track when they were popular in 97-98, i used to beat this other employee all the time (he was sponsored by hobby shack to run these cars). we had the same motor and batteries and he couldn't figure out why i could smoke his car. it was because i dead shorted the batteries and dumped them in water.

I did the next battery in shallow water with the bag standing up. Worked just fine.
