This should answer your question (from RCCA forums):

It can also be purchased separately as an accessory item (#5908) for the following products: Velociti-series motors, SS13.5 (#3413), Crawler (#3418), and for SS5800 (#3400) and SS4300 (#3401) motors that have had the Velociti upgrade end bell installed. No modifications to the motor or ESC are needed. Simply remove the standard rotor and install the new rotor.

Oh cool, thanks. I saw a similar blurb, but it just said "other 540 sized motors."

Yea, that doesn't seem right. I think the press release said the can was ribbed. I wonder where Tower dug up that picture, it's not even on Novak's site yet.

Thats what I've read...I prefer it to be blue though, if they are going to anodise it...

However....This seems more politically correct...

Oh, cool, it is on their site. The linked picture is a 4.5, so maybe it'll be a little different? I do so wish they'd do something else with the can. I know purple is their thing, but the motors just look so bland. These motors should be surrounded with glowing neon lights, diamonds and disco balls.

Don't think so mate... Here's a statement from Novak...

While the Velociti 3.5R Brushless Motor looks just like the Velociti 4.5R, the differences are noticeable behind the wheel. Like all Velociti-series motors, the 3.5R motor is compatible with Novak’s GTB Racing Programmable Brushless/Brush ESC. It has the same dimensions as all of the other Velociti motors, and sports the lightweight aluminum ribbed end bells and improved solder tab system as the Velociti 4.5R.

I was looking on Novaks website and it says that the 3.5 has a Kv rating of 10500 RPM/Volt.
