What to do with no battery jig?
 

Ok, I've done a search for alternatives to the Deans Speed jig for battery setup and came up with nothing.

What does a guy do if he doesn't have a jig?

The deans was nice with the battery bar holder though.. Ive heard they are bringing it back.

When I didn't have a jig ...

I start with one cell, put a battery bar on it .. lay it down, put another cell next to it and work from there. If I'm at my shop I put them in a vice (not too tight)

If you lay the cells down on something flat you can glue them together with your shoe goo..Once the pack is glued together it is much easier to solder together, you can just prop it up on something to keep it on it's side and solder away.

Or just throw down $10 and buy a jig.

i sticky tape my batteries together then place them between two bits of timber. Then clamp them using weak clamps and that holds them up right while i solder them.

A slab of high density foam with various cut out sections on two sides is my best freind> car stand, battery holder/jig, tool holder, motor holder, etc and it only costs $2 plus the blade to make the cutouts.

Make it fit!
 

Why not make your packs fit properly? Just lay the batteries in the battery tray; put on a dab of Shoe Goo; let it dry; flip the batteries over and finishing glueing them together; and *then* put the battery bars on. That way, the battery pack will fit your battery tray perfectly. Thanks; Ernie P. :cool:

Well, I allways tape the cells in the car and solder them right there...
Perfect fit and its quick and clean, dunno why most need battery soldering trays...

I have in the past used 2 paint stiring sticks and a rubber band. Works good and is really affordable. Popcicle sticks would probably work just as well.

glue them then solder them sheesh :rolleyes:

Put them in your car with the battery strap on or tape them in and then start soldering.

Build them using the foam from your battery case!

Or you can have someone build them for you that has all the right equipment. Expect or offer to pay them for their work, like Nutfluff did.... :p
