David, have you tried the 4505 crosscut "99" brushes? I ran some this weekend and was very impressed. Two runs and only had to make one pass with the lathe and still had serrations on the brushes. Ran purple springs on the positive side and red on the negative. These brushes wear real well with great torque!
BTW, did you get hooked up with Losi? I see from your signature you must have.

Doug, I tried some of the new high silver 4499, which is a cross cut without the cross cut. With the red/red spring combo that Jim gave me I got 2 pretty good runs out of the motor, but the 3rd run the comm was just gone. I think the new cut helps keep the motor alive. Cause once the serrations are gone on the monster its drops off big time.

I have to agree, I finally tried a pair of the Cross Cut "99 Plus" brushes Sat. night & I liked them, power looked pretty good all around(& this was on the motor I relied on in Milwaukee that was acting up after I got it back home), I'll definitely be getting some more to play with...

I recommend you guys trying a treated brush by CD Race Products. It is a chemically treated "E 4499" brush and makes awesome power. He also has a killer comm drop (Liquid Nitro) that performs the entire race......... For prices e-mail me:

I presume if I am reading this all correctly that you want to be at a final drive between 7.2 to 7.8?

I run a XXXs on a 36x80 carpet track rubber tires(Sorex) and I am geared at a 29/118 (7.44). Is this where it needs to be or do I need to gear lower. I keep hearing gear down not up with these motors.

Thats pretty close crash. If I remember right I am at 7.31 with rubber tires on a tight track.

I'm a newbie and needs some advice on how to gear my TC3 with MHS.

If you can, please explain how to figure out my gear ratio based on the various variables.

I'm running 24" Sorex tires, and everything is pretty stock. I have the Factory Team edition but I don't think the gear is any different from the other models.

I believe the stock 48 pitch spur gear is 72.

Any advice would be helpful and appreciated.

Crash, I would suggest trying something like a 7.8:1 & see how it feels(& how it affects your lap times)...SpeedChair, just how big is your local track, & how tight is it? That will have a significant impact on the right gearing for the Monster...

i ran some 767s narrowed .010 on each side in my monster tonight and seemed to help a little on all around power but noticed on the negative there was a slight burn mark from arcing so i went from a trinity green to a red so now im running reds on both and this really seemed to smooth out the whole powerband, i really liked this set up, i race tc on a small tight carpet track, what do you guys think?

In my Dyno testing the RED/RED spring combination produced the most power and torque. In a T/C on a twistly track I would say this is the way to go.

monster stock red springs on both .001 cut off leading edge of 767 brushes moter keep getting teched to see if it Legal in my 1/12 RC/12BL Version Ha Ha lol .....Bubba
