i just read this entire thread. Pretty informative. Ive got a question aswell. appears that many have also experienced it. i tried using the 5.5 novak on my MM esc. TERRIBLE cogging!! And the Esc got REally hot. Does anyone know of a good off road bash ratio i could use for the DF03?

mmmm, MM

Default Mamba Max esc fix

If anyone encounters the same esc problem that I mentioned earlier...here is the easy fix from Joe Ford:
Plug the ESC into the computer, and go to the software tab. Click update firmware. Once the software gets through step 3 of 3 it will function again. Make sure you re-calibrate the ESC to the radio after you do that though.

Thanks again Joe

I plan to run a MM7700 in TC onroad this weekend. Does anyone have a good starting point for FDR for a large open track onroad TC application?

Before i decide on getting one MM5700 combo..wanted to ask if anyone has been using it and what is the experience that u had for drifting and it's FDR? Will FDR=6.0 too fast for handling or FDR=7.0?

1. I have seen some BL motors are connected with a big capacitor..What is the exact purpose? for storage of charges to boost the motor? or? Soldered across the pos and neg terminals? how do u connect to a mamba motor... ?

2. As this ESC doesn't come with Fan but only heatsink. It is recommended to install a fan on top of it's heatsink. if yes, can show me the link to show the Fan selling in any online shop?

Pls advise. thks.smile.png

1. The mamba max is already equipped with 3 capacitors, dont ask me what capacity they are though, so no you dont need to add caps.

2. If your going to be running an FDR of 6ish, i would strongly suggest in using fans for both esc & motor. I have also seen a fellow rctech member with the 'hole mod', where many little holes are drilled through the plastic base of the esc to allow the actual board to breath alot better / dissipate heat, im yet to try it myself because i do have a few heating issues...

7.0ish would be a preferred ratio, ull still have plenty of curry with the 5700...

1)Shorten the wires from esc to the motor
2)Gear down
3)Add a small fan to the esc heatsink.

If your ESC is getting hot and your motor is cool you need a smaller pinion.
I have run my 7700 for 2 1/2 years now at 9.1 to 9.5 with lipo's on a big track with 170 foot strait, I've never had a fan on the motor but I did put one over the ESC for hot days. My motor temp has been 185* and esc 165.

Dont use the "too hot to touch" method. It's innacurate and more often than not completely off. Use a temp gun for more accurate readings.

With 7700 motor, the ESC will get hot. They all do. They are designed with this in mind and its not a pblm, as long as they dont over heat. Mamba Max ESC and motors can withstand more heat than other systems in the market, and as long as you are not in over 200F range it will be fine. After a 5 min run with 7700 motor, on a hot day 90F, should be around 170-180F motor and 160-170F ESC with no pblms at all. Gearing and ESC settings is the key.

Total newb running a Traxxas Rustler xl-5 RTR. I've gone through my stock ESC and two stock 12t Titan motors. Obviously I'm running it too hot and too hard.

I now have the Mamba Max 7700 and DO NOT want to hurt this thing.

My first question is about a fan. Is there one that is recommended for this ESC? The motor seems to be doing well, but like I've read, the ESC gets super hot. I run longer than 5 minutes as well. Should I keep my run time down? It gets really hot around here as well. During the summer we get over 100 deg F for weeks at a time.

Would you all be so kind as to school me.

90T, 48p spur. 19T pinion. (going to go get a 15-16 today). Also getting a motor guard. Is that recommended? My concern is it keeping heat in?

Also read something about a hole in the body, what say you?

Basically, and all around schooling is needed. I don't wanna go drop 2 bills on another Mamba set up. Not that it isn't worth it, but I wanna get some life out of this one.

Default connnecting non mamba motor to mamba max ESC

A perhaps simple question?

I am trying on a different motor for my Mamba max and the markings on the motor does not match the mamba esc markings...

I need to know which motor cable to put where?

Mamba ESC is albeled R,W and B on the motorcables and the motor is marked A,B and C

So where does R W and B connect on the motor
