Default Micro Receiver

I saw this on some robot website.
They use a lot of similar RC stuff like the Novak synth receiver and such.
Then I saw this one.
Just out of curiosity, would this work for 4 cell cars like a 1/12th?

On their site it says:
Micro receivers are Not programed for use with 2 and 3 channel transmitters.
Use a 75MHz single conversion crystal set that matches your transmitter. (not included)
