There is no best pack out there.. With the new breed of sells 99% of the matchers out there have stuff just as good as the others.. I would also say if your asking who has the best, i would assume your still learning about rc.. Pack numbers are minimal unless your car is really good.. If the car isnt dead on you wont tell the diff between a 1.20 and a 1.22 pack..

any of the top matchers will work..

I like Fusion and Promatch. Good prices and good customer service. I really like the quality of their assembly, too.

DC matched IB batts are good too. Gives out a lot of punching power to your car.

dont bother with matchers anymore. just buy some SHV 4200's and make them up yourself. you will get 1.20+volts with them anyway. jmo.

Matching cells is still an important feature as it weeds out the cells and zapping the cells properly will reduce the IR of the cells making them more efficient under load. The SHVs are the best Intellect cells so far with great power. We do see a big spread in runtime in a lot of cells so buying 6 loose cells could mean that you have a 20-30 second difference between your cells which means your pack will not hold up as well as one cell or more will be overcharged and discharged.

You don't need to buy the top spec cells but I reccomend you buy a matched pack as life expectancy and performance will be better.

After using the CTX-D for a few months. Matched packs are the way to go. Also the ICC will be another item to prove on a matched pack. I have found that in discharging that not all cells get to .9v at the same time. So when you have a pack cut off at 5.4v. That does not mean you can't have something like this of a pack

Cell 1= 1.0v
Cell 2= .9v
Cell 3= .85v
cell 4= .65v
Cell 5= 1.1v
Cell 6= .9v

and run time will be all over the map also.

Also if you take and charge each cell in a pack on its own. Each cell will have a different mah and peak charge voltage. If you want good stuff go with matched.

If you do not race or can not afford them go loose cell.

as a noob alll i can say is support your local and you will be rewarded with quick service great prices and mot of al u make friends in the hobby.
i have a local matcher actually 2 (feral and harris) and they are cheaper than importing packs from america japan any were so shop local and be wise with ur cash ie 6 of the best batteries wont win a race if your running the wrong tires trust me i know.
as far as the best cell
i did a big jump went from old tamiya 1400 nicads straight to matcher gp3700 and felt a major difference so yes new packs are deffinatly better of the new packs in australia it seems ib 4200 are the best but the only edge out these ne east power4200 by i think .005v and .01 internal resistance (could be wrong) and the east power seen as the new are having a special sale so i got them for the price of unmatched ib and they were matched to 1.20v +
as for the new gp4300 they have dissapointing numbers but a few quys swear they are better on track so dont count em out but id personally stick with ib or ep cells
ps i just bought 2 new ep matched cells and get to pick em up today
