I'm an MLP fanatic myself and can vouce for the quality of the cars. They are worth every penny. But, If you need other options there is Corally, R/C Indycars, Hyperdrive,Any good used Tamiya F103 or HPI on ebay. That's just to get started, there are others out there also. The new Tamiya F103 GT is basically the F1 car and the word is that MLP is making a kit to convert it back to an F1 with the F201 wheels and tires. Very smart if you ask me. I have several 103's and still race them. I even converted an old Traxxas 4-Tec into an F1 with a Tamiya body and wings. The only thing it needed was to get the new HPI retro wheels and tires for the F103GT and now it is a pretty good and legal racer. I like cheap. Around here we also let the drivers use the 10L style cars and put on an Indy or Cart body to race. It works pretty good just use the front bumper to hold the wing on the front. If you want to race you will find a way. Have fun!

Thanks MXRICH
But they are all D Drive Cars and I do not think the would do to well with a brushless motor or a hot 12 or 10 out in a parking lot race or just tooling around the the play ground But I might be wrong!
And if you take way the traction aid off the track- the D Drive cars will not work to well I might be wrong but this is what I think!
This is why we made our F206F1 2wd car with a full active suspension.
Plus with the LIPO's And Brushless systems out there on the market today you could put a brushless into the F206F1 and fine tune the throttle and Brake right from your laptop and make it Fly! Now it is looking more and more like an F1 car and racing Think about it!
Plus in 2007 we will come out with a full line of slick tires for the Tamiya Wheels but in F201 sizes and they will work for the F206F1 2WD Car

Almost all of the brushless ESC programming can also be done through transmitter commands, it's just takes a little bit longer to program. The MLP F201 might seem expensive to you at first, but buying a Tamiya F201 and hopping it up to perform even relatively well will cost more in the long run. (I know from personal experience, I haven't always been with MLP!
Even after hopping a Tamiya F201 up fully, the performance does not compare to the MLP F201 SCF-PRO. And if you are ever considering running high-power setups and/or low-turn motors, might as well forget the Tamiya!
If you're going to do it, you might as well do it right the first time!
I gaurantee you won't regret it.

Everybody knows I am about cheap racing. ( not always by choice ) Marty,Let's not tell them about the Traxxas X-F1 super duper prototype formula 1 car OK? I had a tough time getting the doors off of that thing to turn it into a racecar. But I did keep the ashtray and DVD player in it.

where could someone see the pics of the traxxas f-1? i would like to see how you did it, im a traxxas fan, but they dont make good cars, only trucks (for racing)

OK, this is really top secret so don't let anyone read this. Take a 4-Tec and mount the F201 body on it. It almost fits but you have to cut a hole for the spur and trim a little around the sterring and front a-arms. Mount the front Tamiya wing to the traxxas bumper and whatever it takes for the rear wing. At the moment I have the aluminum shock tower the so I just zip tied the wing for now but it is solid. The best part is to buy the HPI wheels and tires Tower Hobbies has for the new Tamiya F103GT That they list as an option. They fit perfect, look great, have plenty of traction and are very wide to finish the F1 scale look. It works! And it works pretty good too. Tell everyone it's a prototype only given to exceptional people that understand about the details of F1 racing.

OK, your's is much nicer and you no doubt spent more than the 17 and 1/2 minutes I did thinking this thing up. If I can ever get a pic of it I will post it here. But don't everybody laugh at once.

My camera is busted right now. If I can catch my neighbor at home I will get one asap. Otherwise our next race is July 2nd and I can get one then. I'll hurry all I can.
