Any ideas what would cause excessive vibration on a Yokomo BD when turning left or right?

Turn down your left and right steering endpoints. Having your steering set to sharp will cause the cvds to make a bad vibration, this happened to me on my Yokomo SD, just decrease the amount of steering throw from left to right.

Turn your Steering throw down, when the front wheels turn and bend the front CVD's they get to a certain point where they loose there effeciency and cause vibration. Turn down your EPA, its common on all cars.

if i turn it down to the point that the vibration stops i have very little steering.

A little vibration is normal and i wouldnt worry about it. I dont have a BD so cant comment on how much steering you should have.

if you are running a spool that will cause it and no fix..

yes i am running a spool, so does that mean turning steering rate down wont help?
will the vibration cause any problems?
will the vibration cause any problems?

You should check your steering hub, look to see if they are cracked or broken, they crack pretty easily, this will cause a vibration as well, I recommend the composite steering hubs, also if your running a spool you should run steel drive bones and universals up front the aluminum bones will not hold up to the stress a spool puts on your drivetrain. Also make sure you have your tires mounted nice and snug to the hex mount. Check your tires as well for proper balance. I still think turning down you end point adjustment (EPA) is your problem. If you still are having problems, check your set-up to what the instructions say.

Ditch the spool and drop the one-way back in. Some people are believers in the spool but theres a reason manufactures like Tamiya and Yokomo dont sell spools there hard on your drivetrain, and really are only needed in certain types of tracks. Personally I prefer the one-way or a regular diff.

first make sure nothing else is wrong like bent dogdone etc..
If you really need a spool, my track does, then try turning down steering but you mnight find you have to live with it alittle to get full steering..chatter is just a fact of life with spools..
